Is this true what Jeremy Vine says about the £115,000 or is he on a wind up. If it’s the truth there isn’t a cat in hells chance she will go before November and if she does stay till then and then resigns, she deserves to be lynched.

If that's true, it's absolutely ludicrous. These people earn an absolute fortune after being pm on after dinner speaking, "experts" in the media etc. Even if they didn't, they have the same safety net as the rest of society already.

Major, Blair, Brown, Cameron and May all currently taking from the pot. We don't know about Johnson yet, but presumably he will too.

So £700k a year out of the tax payers pocket to pay for people who aren't even doing the job anymore.

If she lives another 40 years that’s another £4,500,000 not including any rises.
When are normal people going to revolt?

John Major has already had 25 years of it - almost £3m. Stuff like this is incredulous to be honest.

I'm not just singling Tories either. Blair will have had over £1m out of us despite earning more than enough in various other roles.

Don't they also get expensive police protection for a period of time after they leave office ...

... although to be fair Truss probably needs it.

I was wondering if this is true or false news, going to try and find out.
Well it looks like it’s true also they get protection and a chauffeur driven limousine, you couldn’t make this bugger up.

It's probably to stop an ex-PM running out of money and being open to manipulation. Set up before that became the norm while in office of course ;)

A new report has found that schoolkids are no longer ambitious to be a pop star, reality star or you tuber, with politician coming out as their favoured easy street road to wealth.

I hate them more every day. I hope when Hunt announces his budget there is a massive revolt across the whole country a minute after. I just know Truss is going to hang on until November when she gets her lifetime pension of £115,000 a year.

Just picked up this quote in a News article.
The quote is said to be from Edwina Currie, a lady who probably knows more about Politics in general, and the Tory Party in particular, than the rest of us on here put together.

    -----

Asked during an interview with the GB News channel whether Ms Truss could survive, Ms Currie said: “Oh, no, of course she can't survive. Oh my goodness. I'm going to put this on record. I think she is charmless, graceless, brainless and useless."

Elaborating, Ms Currie claimed that the Tory leader "doesn't have any of the skills" to put across her argument.

"You sack senior civil servants, you ignore all the systems that are there, and then you wonder why the markets really get freaked out?" she said.

The ex minister said the prime minister was "brainless" for not waiting to cut taxes when the economic conditions allowed.

    -------------

Not one to mince her words is Edwina.

I can confirm they do, which means Major, Blair, Brown, Cameron, Clegg, May, and Johnson receive it.
What a firing squad that would make, and all but May and Bonzo didn't face economic crisis at some time during office.
