I feel sorry for burn, he's getting stick but it's not his fault he's been played at fullback.

He's a solid defender, but he's obviously going to get raped vs the likes of Antony.

I don't see the issue with Targett.

If Schar is carrying a knock he'll probably be rested vs Everton and Burn will hopefully play CB forcing us to bring back Targett.

Burn should not be first choice. Good lad, dependable, but rarely more than 6/10, always capable of a match changing error and not a left full back. It’s weird from Howe. English managers often have this tendency to stick with heart rather than head.

I think it's simply that including Burn allows them to drop to three at the back when Trippier pushes forward

Targett had an illness in the build up to the Fulham game and couldn't play, Burn did and we got a result. A decent manager trying to manage a squad has to try and keep a winning team happy would be my guess.

Disagree with this, he's usually a solid 7/10 and rarely puts a foot wrong. I feel the stick he's getting recently when having to cover at fullback is harsh.

He's usually pretty solid at CB. Dominant in the air, rarely does much wrong, just the odd clanger every now and then.

Howe said there has been illness in the squad again this week and that a number of players weren't feeling 100% fit. Maybe Targett is one of those struggling for full fitness.

Someone’s been spreading his snotters and obviously Targett has suffered.

How confirmed as much I think. Target has been a bit unwell. I don't think that's the whole story btw. Also we are getting results so Eddie is clearly doing something right. It's a squad game. Players will be in and out of the team.

Any Burn detractors need to think again!
We're forgetting how good our defence has been this season.
    By 14th Oct 21 - 19 goals conceded
    14th Oct 22 - 9 goals - best in division.

Burn always puts a shift in

There is also a major case of Botman playing vs Laecelles to be factored into those figures.

Strongest back 4 is Trippier, Schar, Botman and Targett but Targett has been out for a while and we're undefeated in 5 and conceded 3 goals over those 5 so sticking with the same team makes sense. Someone mentioned above but Burn playing LB allows us to drop into a 3 if Tripp's pushes up while still retaining a solid defense.

Either way it's great to have Targett or Burn as an option off the bench.

He should do. He is starting to show how class he is.

Another clean sheet tonight would be most welcome.

It's ironic, the more clean sheets we keep, the fewer clean sheets Tash has. :emoticon-0148-yes::emoticon-0165-muscl
