Some positives especially the first half but without Lavia or Romeu we drop too deep and don't retain possession.
On the positives. Che was excellent. Bullied their defenders and we really missed him when he went off. Adam had one of his best games. BUT Neither of them scored a goal. AMN and his resting bitch-face seem to be settling in. Alien Lucy wasn't dreadful. DCC looked fine when he came on. Not out of place at all and was physical and calm. A point stops the losing streak. Sure, there's lots of things we can pick up (not least JWP's continuing inability to spot a really bloody obvious forward pass), but I'm going to focus on the positives for the moment.
Something has to change. There's some good players there but completely all at sea at times and looking very tired.
Been common for us for ages. Strikingly different performances from half to half, long runs of games where we look dreadful and some runs of games where we look really quite good.
Could have been worse I suppose (trying to be positive for no.7!) Was a large section of the crowd booing or just an isolated few?
It’s interesting how there are comments bemoaning how much better their team and sub options are than ours and how their manager is tactically much better than ours - but also that we should definitely be winning that match? Granted if we were not expected to beat any team with a better squad or manager then we’d be nailed on for relegation. We clearly have to get the points somewhere. I just think it has been underestimated how far behind we actually slipped. And one summer of spending (when nearly all the league still spent more overall and individually on players) isn’t going to fix it. There are a few bucking the trend - Bournemouth, Brighton and Brentford. But the league is still tight. Villa and Wolves have one point more and have spent fortunes. West Ham have three more points. It’s weird But things are still in the balance and can change quickly. Bournemouth really is must win
And if their squad is so much better, and their manager so much better tactically, surely they should have won that match comfortably too?
We have worse and inexperienced players. But we also have a manager that is failing to recognise the glaringly obvious weaknesses. I wouldn’t say we are miles worse than any of the clubs you listed. A decent manager could at least make us competitive. We have to try something because this is not working. It’s Groundhog Day every week. Second 45 was embarrassingly bad. Worst I’ve seen us since… well last week and the week before. Simply useless
Yeah I agree. I think some of the comments about our squad in recent days have been OTT. But the best is clearly not being got out of them. If the rumours of Ralph not really having a connection with the players are true then that is really not good enough - especially for such a young and inexperienced squad that doesn’t even have a couple of proper old heads in there. And Walcott and Caballero don’t count as they are no way near the side
You got a goal that probably shouldn't have stood, as there's no way he keeps his fulcrum foot on the floor taking a long throw. It still should've been dealt with, but the lack of a CB in our defence showed time and again. Still thi kwe should've taken all 3 points though, Scamacca and Paqueta should've scored. I think you're going to struggle to stay out of the relegation fight tbh, imo you've bought for the future and ignored the here and now.
Agree. West Ham showed their strength in depth today. We were very poor unfortunately and I agree about our goal.
Very few to be honest, sounded a bit like 'dropped two points etc boo' to get rid of some frustration? Didn't sound too serious to be honest.
That was the concern for most of us, we were by a long way the worst team in the PL for the final third of last season but pretty much focused mainly on future prospects. That being said I feel we should still survive and it’s time for a new manager. Fairly even first half but we were absolutely dire in the second. Two sides who lack a cutting edge and it showed bar two excellent finishes.
