Yeah, good to see him getting meaningful game time in the ... errr, Staffordshire FA senior Cup. Bit of a waste of a loan move, really. He's seemingly not involved in their usual squads. otherwise.
Burnley fans absolutely raving about Tella again, apparently he was immense again today. Looking like a fantastic move for him so far. He’s another one that has been treated very weirdly by Ralph imo.
I'm pleased to see him doing well. But I don't have any regrets that we loaned him out. And if I wanted to be pessimistic, I suppose it could be said that this is good experience for him at Championship level ahead of next season.
Yeah I think the loan was probably correct. It just seems weird that he was given such limited chances here, and out of position, even when playing well in his cameos. Very happy to see him kicking on
Was that (ie Jones) or them that have terminated it? If the latter, I can't help but think young Thierry is....problematic.
The only time i've seen him play he displayed a shocking lack of defensive positional awareness for a LB/LWB. I suspect that he still has a hell of a lot to learn yet, hopefully it's not an attitude problem.
Thought I'd do a full round-up: Jack Stephens: Has started the last two for Bournemouth after effectively not playing for the first two months. Went okay? Nathan Tella: consistent starter for Burnley, second top scorer with 6 goals (behind Jay Rodriguez, naturally). Will Smallbone: consistent starter for Stoke, not much statistical return, with 1 goal and no assists. Dan N'Lundulu: 3 goals in 15 matches in League One isn't great. Jan Bednarek: lol. Mateusz Lis: appears to be the backup with Troyes. Made two starts after Gauthier Gallon got dropped, must not have gone so well as he went straight back to the bench.
Kegs got a rare start for Exeter today v Sheffield Wednesday, looks like he played really well from reports. A good chance for him to climb the pecking order there, a shame he hasn’t been playing more.
Thought I'd revive this, because I was checking in on some of the summer diaspora and...yeah. Duje Caleta-Car (Lyon, Ligue 1) -- had been struggling for playing time with Lyon, who were shockingly bad for the first few months...they were at the foot of the table, with just 7 points in 14. Restored to the starting lineup recently and they've won three straight, with three clean sheets. ABK (PSV, Eredivisie) -- injured his shoulder after a few matches. Has been out for nearly three months. Paul Onuachu (Trabzonspor, Turkish Super League) -- 8 goals in 13 league matches. If we ever move the club to Turkey, we have a starter. Romain Perraud (Nice, Ligue 1) -- struggling for playing time, which is somewhat understandable given that Nice is very nice. But he has about 1.5 games worth of playing time in half a season, which isn't ideal. Lyanco (Al-Gharafa, Qatari Whatever League) -- in true Lyanco fashion, he got sent off in his third match and hasn't been seen since. Appears to be injured, maybe? Mateusz Lis (Goztepe, Turkish 1.Lig) -- has been the starter for our sister team in the Turkish second division. Seems to be doing well; in 3-4 years, he might graduate to being our third keeper.
Could we agree with Nice to recall Perraud? While Manning has looked better recently he would be a big upgrade and add some solidity.
Probably not. He's their primary backup, just hasn't gotten a look in with Melvin Bard playing exceptionally, and Nice hasn't really needed to rotate as they aren't in Europe (and Ligue 1 only has a 34-match schedule).
