CHRIS SUTTON HAS GONE FOR AWAY WIN 1:4 NOT SURPRISING.
    Liverpool v Man City (16:30)
It is hard to make a case for Liverpool still being in the title race anyway, but if City go to Anfield and win then it really is all over for Jurgen Klopp's side; they would have no chance.

City will know that, and they know they could land a knockout blow. Erling Haaland was rested in midweek so he will be ready - and I think City are that good, they will wipe the floor with them.

Liverpool's high line has been causing them problems anyway - Rangers were able to get at them in the first half on Wednesday - so they would have to be very brave to try that against Haaland.

They might still create opportunities, because of the way City are set up, but when you look at both teams, City are just too good.

Pep Guardiola's side scored four at Anfield in February 2021, and I think they will match that. I almost went for them to get five, which City last managed there in 1937, but either way this will be a walloping.

    Sutton's prediction: 1-4

Ian's prediction: It would be great if we can get something but because of where we are it's kind of irrelevant - I don't feel like we are challenging for the league. This scoreline is obviously wishful thinking, but more than anything I want us to play well and start to bed in. If things do click, you never know - Liverpool on their day are a bit of a wild card - but if this is the final score I am done with football! 9-0

Being able to get 3/1 with Sky Bet on Liverpool in a home match looks like one of those ridiculous bookmaker sign up offers - but this is the reality of their situation. This is Liverpool's worst start to a Premier League season under Jurgen Klopp and they have already taken 14 points fewer than this stage in their 19/20 title winning campaign.

That said, Anfield with an underdog mentality is a dangerous place no matter the opposition. No team has won there in the Premier League for 27 games. Their attacking metrics also still suggest Klopp's men are potentially in for two goals in this game so City may have to score three to win. It makes a pro-Liverpool result look a sensible strategy at the prices.

Liverpool have scored at least twice in each of their last four meetings with Manchester City in all competitions - no team has ever scored two or more goals in five consecutive games against a side managed by Pep Guardiola before.

Obviously since adding Erling Haaland, City do look jaw-droppingly ruthless in attack but when a quality counter-attack opposition team gets it right against them the balance of their defensive game does make them vulnerable to conceding. In games against Newcastle, Crystal Palace and Manchester United this season they have shipped eight goals.

That makes me uneasy if I'm going to back them at 4/5 with Sky Bet for that away win. I still think a draw will be seen as a good result by Guardiola at this stage of the season and that has been the result in three of the last four Premier League meetings. In fact, since Guardiola took charge of Manchester City, the aggregate score in the 17 meetings between the teams reads Liverpool 28-30 Manchester City. Historically there is little between the two.

The game to end 1-1, 2-2 or 3-3 at 7/2 with Sky Bet looks quite an attractive play.

    SCORE PREDICTION: 2-2

I’ve got a feeling that we won’t lose this game. City won’t find it easy coming to Anfield and that 7-1 demolition of Rangers would have lifted the whole team.

3-2 to us. Salah getting back to his best.

I'll be optimistic as ever, but won't be profoundly shocked if that optimism is entirely unfounded.

Some of the comments on here are disgraceful.

    Screams of plastic fans.

We should just except the loss and move on. What the actual ****.

If we don't expect a win, the hope should still be there.

If your not hoping for something, if your only happy when we are the clear favourites I'd suggest ****ing off and supporting psg or bayern.

Of course the hope is there.

11 v 11 and anything can happen. Now 99/100 it doesn't happen but that 1 day keeps fans up and down the country turning up.

We have enough quality is some areas to trouble city but we are absolutely made for city to run riot through us this season. Just a fact so why get angry if that's what comes to pass.

As I said, anything better than a hammering and it's positive imo.

Who knows the manc ref appointed by the corrupt pgmol might send off a manc player.

Maybe haaland will get bummed by gomez.

But most of the time neither will happen so I'm.fully expecting fake vvd and short Joe gomez to be absolutely beasted by haaland. For milner at rb to be put in a zimmer frame by foden. For henderson to be tortured by de bruyne.

So here's to hope and not gnashing of teeth.:emoticon-0167-beer:
