I think Putin is assuming much the same stance, he much as alluded to that the EU and NATO will do nothing, he has watched previous conflicts and realised Europe has no balls, beyond bombs of peace in the old Yugoslavia and the utter mess in Afghanistan. Mainly because the EU and NATO consistently think they can march across every state and create some sort of modern day roman empire with a federal peaceful advancement - shouting it's what the people wanted, even though many of them, had never ever voted for it - well I certainly didn't until 2016. Putin has had enough and China watches with amusement. Hence why i understand where Putin is coming from with his contempt of them. There was complaints about polls that Putin carried out recently, but we should not forget the Ukraine were invited into the Federal State with much the same immediate measures, but that's ok somehow, because it's what we supposedly believe the power of the people want, wrong, it just happened because it suited the West!
we put up no resistance either on land and we would have been ****ed but for the big trench filled with water between us and continental europe .De Gaulle wasn't their leader just became it in exile with us though was an absolute ****e all the time . Our military services performance in WW2 wasn't great with the army being the worst performer and the Navy probably had the best with a particular tip of the hat to the men of the merchant marine .

I was hoping it would all calm down now for the winter, with the Russian troops withdrawing from parts of the Ukraine. I was under no thoughts that it was over, just merely they would settle into their respective positions until Spring. Hopefully it was an accident, but guess I'm just trying to kid myself that was the case.
