I cannot wait for the second series of The Rings of Power. I've only read the three LOTR books from Tolkien so I really wasn't sure what was happening certainly through the early part of the series. But needless to say I got my answers in the last few episodes.

I struggled at first but everything makes sense now. I’ve read most of the “histories” and it’s all coming together very nicely. I can safely predict what will happen in Season 2 but of course I won’t!

Some brilliant characterisations, with Galadriel head and shoulders above everyone else, with “Halbrand” close behind. Nori is great too!

Loved him as Cracker, even more as Hagrid. A literal giant of stage and screen.

    RIP Robbie <rose>

At the start I was hoping we'd find out who Sauron was. When I watched The Fellowship of The Ring for the first time and it showed Sauron's defeat I was wishing they'd started the film at an earlier period. As I was only about 12 at the time I hadn't read any of the books so was unaware there were books that were set before LOTR. I've told my dad to stick with it as he wasn't overly impressed by episode 1.

A couple of short videos from this morning’s walk.
The first is south side of a hill, looking back at where I started out, ending with a view over one of Torrevieja’s salt lakes, with the Med beyond.
The second is the north side of the hill, looking inland at the mountains and towns/villages.

Having recently been sacked after my back problem meant I was "unable to carry out all my duties" I found myself pondering a possibly difficult future aged 55..

So I started looking for work.
Funny thing, but for the first time in 40 years, I was interviewed by numerous employers who seemed to be willing to take on someone with some of the required skills and train them in the rest. This was news to me, and I guess is down to the skills shortage that exists in numerous industries since we left the EU.
So finally, for me anyway, a positive consequence of Brexit. I hope the willingness of employers to start investing in training continues though as that has been missing for decades.

I'm 2 weeks into a new job, in a new industry, carrying out tasks I've never done before. I get to travel with the job: France this coming week, then Germany, Malta, Germany again before a week in Lisbon.
Not sure about the rest of the year, but there may be an Argentina and Brazil trip in the offing.

I'm going to be earning more than the old job, I get a generous car allowance even though I won't be doing many miles and I'm feeling energised and enthusiastic about work again.

So if anyone else out there finds themselves in a similar position, it might not be as bad as it seems, and you might get to use the opportunity to your advantage.

Oh, and don't go to work at the University of Bath because they are a bunch of ****s even though they unknowingly did me a favour :bandit:
