Got to have some Sam Cooke on a FNMT. I think this was his first performance after his 2 year old son died in the family swimming pool. The way he gently sings no crying at the end gets me every time.
Must have been great in the USA after listening to the bland stuff suddenly hearing early Elvis coming over the airwaves.
That’s one of those songs that always takes you back to the time it came out. In the film they play it at a theatre, miming, in front of an audience of actors one of which was a 13 year old Phil Collins. That was, surprisingly, the only time it was ever performed in front of an audience.
