I don't know why, but I am strangely confident on this one. Weird. Maybe the doom and gloom on here makes we want to be different.
We haven't picked up a point when he hasn't played. Good to see the BBC are on it: "Southampton will be without Moussa Djenepo who has missed training all week with illness and Sunday comes too early for Oriol Romeu, who Hasenhuttl said may join the squad in training next week."
Madness that all our hopes on being a competent team that can pick up points revolve around an 18 year old with a handful of senior appearances. We do not have, or have not found a midfield combination of players or formation that works without him. Letting Romeu go was the wrong thing to do from a football point of view without having a replacement lined up. We struggled without Romeu, now we struggle without Lavia. So maybe we need more than one player that can play that position. Who'd have thought it. Big failure by the club there.
I’m glad you & others came to the table with those comments. I couldn’t believe what he’d written & just couldn’t comment
Yeah you would have thought that would have been noticed in pre season …. oh no, they were concentrating on the back 5!
. I genuinely admire your ability to stay “glass-half-full”. To see so many positives still is impressive
I just think to myself: "Have things really got that bad?" and I think no. There's obviously concerns but it wasn't long ago we were all raving about Lavia and ABK. And City game apart, we only lost the previous games by one goal - two of which we should have got something out of. We're still a work in progress so these results will happen. By far the most concerning thing for me are the leaks coming out of the club regarding Ralph. Either because they're true, or there are some real vindictive arseholes within the club. Or both. Maybe I'm looking positively at things because my life is really good at the moment but life's too short to get down or angry at things you can't control or have no say about.
I'm with Tom on this. Life can be **** so why make it worse worrying about stuff beyond our control. Control the controllables a wise man once said. Don't get too high when we win or too low when we lose. If you spend 90 mins worrying we are going to lose and we do, you have been unhappy for 90 mins and then unhappy after. If you have faith and positivity for 90 mins and we lose, same outcome (we lose), but your mental health (really) is so much better as you have been 'happy' for 90 mins. I think @Onionman once said on here that even if we go one or two down he still expects us to come back. I am a firm believer in feel it, live it, believe it and it may just happen. If it doesn't, you are no worse off. No point in being a miserable bugger all day.
I don't think that the team has performed this season anywhere near the level that Ralph had the team playing earlier on in his tenure. I've not been thrilled by our football which I think is too slow and deliberate and certainly not creative enough. If we had had the same results with better football i'd not be so concerned about changing the manager and would probably think that the points would start to come once new players had settled in.
