The markets never were going to think it was great. Anyone other than rabid ideologues knew what the market's reaction would be to an announcement of unfunded tax cuts in an inflationary environment. Obviously there's plenty of speculation that the ideologues knew too and that they and their mates have done very nicely from the market's reaction...
Probably. Someone always makes money. I'm a big believer in letting people be hoisted by their own petard. Instead they've been given an easy out. When we're back to austerity they'll say 'well, this wasn't our first option but we weren't allowed to try anything different'.
Everyone had an easy way out by leaving Boris where he was, but the Labour lads got what they wanted and now they are blaming everyone but themselves.
So, are you saying the market verdict was totally unpredictable ... ... and that Tory MP's opinions are formed after events and not before. You seem to be saying Truss's proposals were sound which implies you know better than the Bank of England, Tory MPs, the Stock market, etc ... .. fair enough, everyone's entitled to an opinion.
PM holding a presser this afternoon. Kwasi flew home early from USA meeting of global finance ministers.
Nope. I'm saying we'll now never know if they would have worked or not. It will remain speculative. Which hands the tories an easy excuse.
Only some Tories, the others were the ones who went for her and made her U-Turn ... ... the public didn't do anything.
...and what will he do, sign on the dole, take any job offered such as delivery driver on minimum wage or working in a care home/NHS on minimum wage? of course not, the only change in his life will be his current title, he will remain an MP taking all the benefits that come with it and as i keep saying, this is why those in power need to be held accountable and need to be made to keep any promises they make to grab votes because as it stands they can basically take the p1ss, grab all the rewards with no fear of punishment.
Which "Labour lads" made the decision to remove Boris Johnson from office? Do you think it's the fault of "Labour Lads" who post on message boards to take the blame for actions that the government have taken completely on their own?
It's a valid theory, but how long do you let something fail for before you step in? They can make excuses as much as they like, no-one ever takes responsibility for failure in government anyway. A smoking gun doesn't make any of them accept fault.
Sacking the chancellor after a month and backtracking on more of your policies under threat from your own party is farcical. This government can no longer govern. A general election is the only real answer. It will not happen though.
