How is the UK nuclears not independent? If we want to fire one off, we will do. I understand we lease missiles from the US, but they're ours to do with as we please.
Tbf the French bloke said if Russia fired a nuke at Ukraine. No way the UK are firing nukes at them if that happened either. It makes sense for France to say they would deal with it militarily. So would the UK. I don't see a problem with what they said tbh.
Why don't the French give actual help on the battlefield? They've give less than countries like the Czech Republic. Literally dragged their heels over this while we go head first with support for Ukraine and they make ballsy statements like this? If it kicks off we all know they'll not be leading, they've got a history of being bang average on the battlefield.
That's probably true. I was just on about the nuke thing. Did make me think what country would nuke another if a 3rd country was nuked. I doubt anyone would bcos it would start a chain of events that would be catastrophic. I reckon you only nuke if you're targeted yourself.
I'd only ever want us to let one off if we are attacked first. Fwiw, I don't think Putin will risk dropping a nuke on Ukraine. Sometimes, I think he'll be frustrated with the defeats and might let one off, but nah, he knows he's in a helpless situation as soon as he does it.
atm he's not going to drop one, but who can tell in the future how things turn out? He's certainly selling the possibility to the Russian people atm and they're not rising up against it.

I thought we liberated them... Are you not talking about the French leader De Gaulle who come running to London but told his citizens to stay and resist the Germans? I didn't watch the clip but we agreed the French were an utter failure in ww2 who couldn't surrender quick enough?
no we left France and they fought on for a while until the surrender when Petain (hero of verdun) set up the Vichy administration in the South of France .
