Salah only had 9 touches of the ball, but as his new pay package is apparently linked to goals scored he probably earned a fortune for his 6.5 minutes work!
I only realised today that Jota set up all of Salah's goals. He also did so against Ajax. They're proving to be a good combination.
I just read back a few pages because all my comments so far weren't in response to anything that anyone else had said. It's funny (and good) that we all watch the same game but see different things. I noticed a few people saying how well Harvey played and someone suggested he was a contender for motm. I didn't think he played all that well (although was delighted that he got his goal which was very well taken). I have great hopes for him and love his commitment and that he's a genuine Liverpool fan. For me he looked slow both in speed and anticipation of the next move and he didn't look after the ball. I'm not bashing any players because I love them all, just going on what I saw last night. Motm for me was Gomez.
Liverpool’s 9 biggest Champions League wins – with 2 teams featuring twice! 1. 8-0 vs. Bestikas (H) – 2007 2. 7-0 vs. Spartak Moscow (H) – 2017 3. 7-0 vs. Maribor (A) – 2017 4. 7-1 vs. Rangers (A) – 2022 5. 5-0 vs. Spartak Moscow (H) – 2002 6.5-0 vs. FC Haka (A) – 2001 7.5-0 vs. Atalanta (A) – 2020 8.5-0 vs. FC Porto (A) – 2018 9. 5-1 vs. FC Porto (A) – 2021
As far as I'm concerned, Firmino was MotM by a considerable distance. We were a goal down, in a hostile arena, looking a bit anxious given our recent travails, and still hesitant at the back. Two goals and one assist transformed the game. He was the focal point of almost everything going forward, the heavy touch and misplaced passes were almost non-existent, he turned out of trouble rather than into it and his passes were accurate and well-weighted. I said after the game it was like watching the Firmino of 5 years ago. As great as it was to see Mo regain his scoring touch (let's hope it doesn't desert him again), the game was more or less won by the time he came on. It's why I also said that the BBC can see no further than goals scored.
Found this thread at last, yer ****er I AM HAPPY AT THE RESULT AND SALAH'S HAT TRICK! I AM HAPPY FOR NUNEZ, BOBBY AND ELLIOTT! I AM HAPPY!! at this moment in time
Yup. Firmino was clearly best player. Can’t moan about Salah scoring 3, couldn’t find much else when coming on, but he scored the 4th, 5th and 6th, in a 7-1 win. Weren’t the most important goals in the context of the actual game. But not a huge surprise given the criteria for getting into garths bbc team of the week is have you scored a goal this weekend? Yes? You’re in
I agree about Bobby, he's been my favourite player for quite some time and he was excellent last night. I nearly added his name when I chose Gomez. Maybe it was a refreshing change seeing the RB defend, stay strong, challenge and keep his man out of dangerous areas, not forgetting his pass for the second goal? that edged it.
