When was the last time we beat THEM though (in the league)? Feels like about 20 years - not googled it so may be wrong but that’s what it feels like.
Well that was a far far better performance than at Brum. The players gave there all and as Chris Honour summed up very well they were all playing for Nige. Special praise to Max who had a good game and dealt with the issues that came at him. Atkinson MOM for me cracking signing by Nige. Three points against Millwall Saturday and that will get us in the right part of the league with a tasty game against WBA next week who are struggling big time. Well done the players and special mention for Nige making those changes. Klose made a huge difference. It worked three points with a much better performance. Note Preston have only conceded 6 goals all season and we put two past them tonight.
Bloody well done, I'm just think it's a great team result and I agree with RR well done Nige and the management.
Funny old game innit?, How on earth did they beat Norwich at the weekend,? had we played tonight like we were a while ago, with confidence, and our strikers on form, we’d have slaughtered them. Thought we did ok tonight, but not outstanding, funnily enough I was confident we’d be the ones likely to score at the end, I wasn’t at all surprised when we did. We need to improve our crossing, the number of times we got into good wide areas and then blew it. Tonight If only Sykes could cross a ball, or find a man wearing a red shirt, we’d have had a hatful.
Does anyone else think we look less rattled at the back when Bentley doesn’t play?, he’s a great shot stopper, excellent at one on one’s, and shouts a lot, but doesn’t create confidence in the defence imo, mainly because he doesn’t command his area anywhere near enough.
We are inconsistent - 'streaky' - sounds familiar? Delighted with the win of course - especially against PNE. A win's a win - all good stuff.
We’ve had a tough run of games, playing some difficult fixtures, mostly we’ve competed, obviously Brum was the exception, but we are still only 3 points off the play offs. We’ve now got some influential players nearing being fit to come back. If we can get back to some sort of form who knows. No team is running away with it this year. That said as long as we stay in the mix, and finish around mid table I’ll be relatively happy.
Well done Nige and the lads, a very welcome win and 3 points even if the goals came from a defender !
Bloody is after that shocking performance at Brum -back on the front foot we looked dangerous most of the game against a side who have let the fewest goals in the championship just six all season.-Great win last night-get three points against Millwall will be a fine and dandy week.
Bentley my take- Great shot stopper Does not command his box Handles crosses like a teenager learning his trade. Distribution is shocking. Holds up the play far to long. Should never be a captain. The french keeper will be NO1 with Max fighting him for the spot. Bentley will be gone next year.
Far more assured-Klose made a massive difference at the back. We looked far more dangerous from start to finish. Spot on reference Bentley -Nige obviously has seen it-brave move but the right move.
They had there chances, could have gone either way imo. Our defence still looked there for the taking.. yes it was much better and a win v Millwall would be a boost, not only for our league position but restore some confidence back into the players.. I’m hoping the first half v Brum was a reality check and we never see the likes of that performance again..
