Poor second half

 

From about 15 mins through til 88 we were really good (WBs aside). Gotta work on being good for the full 90+ though.

Son and Kane (ridiculous pen aside) were great, Hojbjerg also keeping up his good form.

I’ll pay to never have to watch Emerson or Sessegnon again though, horrendous footballers.

 

That was the single most spursy end to a game I have seen in a very long time.

 

Well this all got a bit mad at the end. They were lucky to end with 10 men and Kane really should have put the game back to bed with the pen. That corner was so sloppy all round, from how we conceded it to the defending.

But positives to take from that and we’re in a good position in the group now given the result in the other game.

Said everything we already knew about this team I'm afraid. Some good, but a lot bad - both on the pitch and on the sidelines.

Sessegnon and Royal are not of the required quality.
Never particularly rated Sessegnon at fulham but he has had plenty of chances to impress and has played 2 or 3 good games at most.
Royal reminds me of Aurier.
Neither should be first choice imho.

 

For a system so reliant on wing backs, it’s almost criminal he keeps picking those 2

 

While he's still young, Sess is in his fourth season at the club. It really does get to the point where you have to ask how much longer we can justify sitting around waiting for him to come good?

And with that, we can safely and sadly say that Poch's final transfer window was the worst in the PL era. Worse than the Bale window. Even worse than the two windows we didn't buy anyone. £130m spent on four players who have contributed next to nothing since joining. Shambolic recruitment by all involved.

Hopefully he'll be replaced by Udogie next season. But Conte's obsession with Royal is just baffling.

 

I remember you a little while back seeing that you thought Emerson had something about him and that he could be nurtured into a useful player for you. Do you still believe that or do you think he’s a lost cause?

 

It's not just that - he got rid of the wrong one in exiling Reguilon, who at the very least has the attributes to play in that position!

 

Except he doesn't, as Perisic was the regular LWB until he got a knock
