How exactly do you stop a team kicking it long?

Everyone run up front press like **** only to look stupid as the ball sails over their head from the keeper, landing at the feet of one of their 4 attackers while our two centre backs again wonder why the rest of the team has ****ed off?

**** me, you'd think "the press " was the only football tactic that ever worked.

Just rush them slightly. That's all. Don't let them take their time and drop it.on the runner they want

    Don't make it comfortable.

Pro footballers mate can hit a ball 40 yards

    Even donkey rangers cbs.

Given them the time and they'll play it where their runners want it. Rush them jaut a bit and they'll not be able to.

It's not even pressing is it. It's just being close enough and hassling as the ball shuffles across.

We've a line of 4 up there to do the job without losing shape at all.

you don’t, that’s the point. Klopp is on record saying that you just need dominant CB’s. In fact, the press encourages rushed long clearances ‘into a general area’…..that we should usually mop up.

OK, so we should be pressing more?

Regardless of the fact that tge best chances they've had arnt from long balls, but are from losing the ball and the midfielders are to high?

The lack of press is not an issue.

The point is we are not seeing general areas, we are seeing ball being hit at targets.

    Rush these guys into errors.

Seriously.do you want to pack the pen area and let them hoof it at us?

Henderson been absolutely awful today. Smashed ball out wide to no one after getting it from alisson. Then whacking it almost out to a throw for nunes to chase (even if gets there not gonna do anything with it there).

Tsimikas defending been really poor as well. Was poor v arsenal and winger just knocking it past him and running. Hoping Robbo is fit for weekend.

No, we should be not standing watching them play it wherever they like. Just run in on your man when he has it and force him to shuffle.it on then recover postion.

I'm not talking cms. I said nunez and frimino initially. They are the prime guys but Elliott and carvalho and there to shut wide areas off.

**** me, but we arnt mopping them up.

If we press, they kick it long, they are right in at our centre backs. Hiw many times would you like to see a forward running at our centre backs with a wingers either side to think maybe all running forwards may not be the best thing to do?

Possibly just possibly, we could maybe try to get back into a good strong block.

If they hit it long we may not win the first ball, but we will win the second.

If they decide to play out, once they hit the half way line they struggle to play through.

Just possibly if your defence is wide open, maybe offer a bit of a screen.

Or we coukd **** it, try the same **** over and over in the hope that we come against Bournemouth more than twice a season.

    Ht.

    Lucky to be level tbh.

Gomez has battled. Konate has done well, tsimiaks is in a battle and is being got behind.

    Carvalho anonymous mostly.
Nunez a black hole in terms of us sending balls up to him and them disappearing.

Roll on salah and jota asap. By the sounds of it though jota won't be risked unless it's desperate.
