The problem here are your definitions of any different opinion to your own as 'defending', and absolutely anything one side does as 'indefensible'. Saves thinking, if you're into that kind of mindless barking, I suppose.
Nah average comeback... Interesting that Truss has ruled out any cuts to public spending, or has she?
Across government there will be hundreds if not thousands of decisions made every single day. Do you expect every minister to have sight of every decision across every department? They won't even do that within their own departments.
It's got to come from somewhere. That was the problem with the mini-budget - no specific figures. There's a lot of evidence that cutting taxes can actually increase the tax take, for example. It has done in the past. At least then we'd see the thinking behind it.
That's not the issue, it's the blanket denial of any knowledge of general policies and intentions. Of course knowing every single detail isn't possible. But when the interviewer says the PM has said 'this or that' it's surely reasonable to ask the interviewee their opinion. When they won't even do that it just looks evasive. It's not a big deal but it doesn't give the impression of clarity, cohesian or confidence.
I think those impressions you get are entirely accurate, because Truss and Kwarteng haven't got a clue what they are doing themselves, so the rest of the cabinet are as wise as the rest of us.
I believe U-Turn Truss leads by popularity, says whatever people want to hear. Once trouble or questions start being asked, she changes quicker than a hookers knickers
NHS operations waiting list now the worst in living memory ... ... people will be Googling 'DIY hip replacement' at this rate
Ah but you see, with all this tax we are saving because of Truss and Kwarteng we can all afford to pay for a private operation with an eminent surgeon in Harley Street. Levelling up, or is it trickling down? I get lost off with all these fantastic policies.
