In all honesty, not one of us on here know for sure what's going on with the internal workings of the Club and its Chairman? That said, there certainly seems to an element of truth in the rumours that he(Acun) is meddling a bit more than he perhaps needs to. He's done a hell of a lot of good at the Club so far and he had created a feel good factor that wasn't present at the end of the Allams tenure,he's at risk of destroying that 'IF' he is meddling and continues to do so!! As working men we're all cognizant with the term "You're only as good as your last shift" and that term can be easily applied to owners of Football Clubs,we(Football fans) are the most fickle fanatics in sport and when things start to go belly up we'll start pointing fingers. The Club was on the cusp of rising up again and we assumed we had the man at the helm who was going to do that, and more.'IF' he's an autocrat who wishes to make just about every decision, even though he has people in place to make those decisions,he runs the risk of destroying every good he has done so far... The Jury is still out for me but the Club is faltering at present and there's an unhealthy whiff coming from within.
You could basically replace Acun with Allam's in that post and the same would ring true. They also came in as the next messiah after the Duffen/Barlett clusterfuck.
I really don’t get the criticism of Acun. So what if he is all over every decision in the club - he’s quite clearly passionate and desperate for this to work and can’t help himself. He will realise at some point that he needs to trust people to do their jobs but fair play to him for caring about all aspects of the club. We are a million miles further forward with him at the helm than the Allams but are all now quibbling that after moving a million miles forward that we are just checking which direction we need to go next. Martins would have been an unbelievable appointment but due to factors outside of his control (Wolves) we have stalled. Quite rightly he has waited until that has played out before making his next move. It’s a big decision and one quite clearly he wants to get right.
Im guessing Pedro is still Acun's first choice and is hoping Wolves go for somebody else. Or has he blown it regardless?
Does anyone on here 'know' for certain that Acun is meddling with team affairs? If so, where did information come from? I've seen no proof of it whatsoever.
I was being sarcastic, thought that was apparent. My point was more that there's not going to be black and white proof that he's too involved with the team.
Theres only supposition and speculation, but given this 'board involved' scenario is now the dominant model in England as well as europe people can whinge but it won't turn the tide. If it works people will be happy, if it doesn't they'll question it which is the way it's always been. It's always been the case that ultimately the board have always appraised, hired and fired managers accordingly and there have always been conversations if the manager is leaving prime investments on the bench with the team struggling. Same way training has always been queried when there is a large glut of injuries. It's just folk making a crisis out of a setback as that's the way of a media driven world nowadays.
Think it’s common knowledge that Acun and Tan picked the transfer targets this summer. Shota just went along with it but had no real input. Acun and Tan have both been quite open about lacking patience to build a team over several seasons, how they’d rather us lose 4-3 than draw 1-1 and Acun didn’t hide the fact he sat in the driving seat for the transfer negotiations, not Shota. A lot of coaches/managers won’t want to work for a club where they lack autonomy in identifying what the squad needs to improve and the playing style. I don’t blame them. Acun is a nice guy with ambitious plans but he’s a micro-manager. Not everyone wants to work for a micro-manager.
In what way, shape of form are we "A million miles further forward"? I presume you're not referring to on field miles with our current form standing at Played 6,Won 1,Lost 5?
The only areas we are a supposed 'million miles further forward' are fans feel good factor and gate receipts! The rest is work in progress!
So you will never be happy with an owner unless we are successful on the pitch. He is entitled to get things wrong and learn from his mistakes. We cannot question his commitment to the club and it’s success. People have short memories.
I'd be more than happy with a Team who could hold their own on a Football pitch, irrespective of who owned us. If you're referring to me as having a short memory, provide me with an example?
Yup, seems to already have signings lined up for Jan which Martins didn't want. I'm getting worried about who we will end up with.
