Well every time i say city work very hard people get their backs up and return to them going and doing x or y. the reality is city players and Guardiola work extremely hard to be the best they can be. I wish they would work more like man utd i really do, but they don't. As for working hard doesn't bring success well, clearly it does. If you want to make it a pedantic point about hard work means something else other than putting everything into what you are doing and actually another term should be used then clearly i was right all along. whatever you care to term it. wet, dry, umbrellas whatever..... city have it in absolute spades. why do they have it in spades? Cos the owner went out and basically procured the entire barcelona technical staff and then hired Pep guardiola and got out of their way. city have also managed to navigate the silva, aguer, fernandiho, kompany era with the loss of relatively few trophies. I'm pretty sure folk will jump up and down and scream about cash now as well and say that they've not had to work to do that either. reality is.... you don't get 90+ points in the prem without working hard. just doesn't happen. We should know.
You were very clear in what you said "only hard work brings success". That's wrong as a general premise and also wrong as it refers to football. You can go on all you like about how hard city work. it isn't the reason for their success. And please notice, I haven't said they don't work hard. Just to put things in context, 2 years before they were bought by the despots, Joey Barton was their top scorer with 7 goals. Their new ownership had a profound and immediate impact and none of it was down to hard work. The four summer transfer windows spend prior to the takeover went like this, £12.8m, £1.35m, £11.23m and £5.85m. The first transfer spend with their big money was £70.16m, the next £141.62m and on and on. After spending £437m they won their first trophy for 33 years. But hard work eh ......
well clearly not working hard will not bring success any more than sanding out in the rain hoping to get dry eventually. Like it or not i can some back and show you what man ud did over the last 5 years to spend 680mil net and end up nowhere simply because they have not worked had enough a huge amount of their issues is down to short cut taking and rank incompetence but their players even didn;t look fit. Ten haag has been working had on that one right off. just money doesn't and never will bring success. in the modern game it might be a prerequisite but its not the only one and had work is a prerequisite just the same
Shouldnt do. Barca been ****, signed some great players. United been ****, signed some decent players like Antony, and still attract big names. Arsenal been **** and out CL, managed to get young hungry players like odegard, Jesus, martinelli. spurs been crap. Signed some decent players. We’re still a huge name and offer more chance of trophies and CL even if we miss out in one year than the likes of spurs/arsenal who flop go up and down in form. We rarely buy players at top of their game anyway. Always looking to buy players before they get there (Jota, Nunez. Diaz, Konate). if anything players should look at us and go, I can see myself getting into that first choice midfield easily, def gonna go there and out my marker down.
Also depends on how long we're **** for. Seems to be a common idea on here that the status quo is inevitably going to last forever - that this is somehow the beginning of the end. Like saying if it's been raining for a week then it'll never stop.
I'm not saying any more on this other than to say that my initial comment (and those subsequent) have been to refute your claim that "only hard work brings success" because that is clearly wrong. In city's case, it's ludicrous. You could have saved us both some time and just corrected that original claim that you made. Unlike you, I have never said it's 'only' anything that brings success because it isn't. Success is a combination of factors.
Domestic players will recall our quad run last season. Foreign players will know we keep making it to the CL final. (Average every other year with Klopp). Everyone will be aware we're crap this year but that we usually aren't and it's just a bad year.
we will be fine. i've heard that one before and all. so many times thats been said and if you pay them and pay for them its amazing what turns up.
In January Ridiculous really. Signed a massive new deal that no other club will match and PSG won't sell. He's stuck there
Earning twice what Salah is earning and Salad's wage was a massive stretch for our club. Zero chance of Mbappe coming, just makes me want to bang my head on the wall when I see the rumours...
