If it was going to be Rodgers it would have already happened. He won't get sacked as LCFC don't want to pay his compensation fee.
Just changed my vote to out. I have always defended Ralph because I have always believed, when he first joined us, that he made some very average players and a very average squad look better than they were, as a result of the system of play he introduced. The high press with the players hunting in packs made us difficult to play against, made us competitive and it also helped disguise the shortcomings of individual players. We still have an average squad, and although there is a lot of potential for some of the players to become very good, his refusal to return to the high press, high energy style of play is a big reason why we are not competing as consistently as we were and the reason why we are losing so many.
Not sure about that. Their fans still want him gone and one win won't give him much time. Palace, Leeds and Wolves next 3 for them so he'll need a couple wins there imo. I've still got this horrible feeling we might go for him if they sack him before us Ralph
I could definitely see us being interested in Rodgers if he was available. But I'm not sure if he'd be interested in us. He might, I don't know. A number of PL jobs will become available over the next 12 months, including some at bigger clubs than us, and he wouldn't need to be in any rush.
Unsubstantiated rumour that the deed is done following a meeting of SR today. Rasmus Ankersen going to be more involved in footballing matters (not management, obviously, but more influence on Semmens etc) and announcement tomorrow of the change. As I say though, unsubstantiated and may be balls.
I've changed my vote. I'm not anti Ralph by any means but what I've seen in recent games makes me think he's not the right man for the job any longer. Everything has a use by date for lots of reasons. Ralph has excelled just as much as he has failed but the opportunity was there to show that with a refreshed squad he can still lift young players to high energy positive football and he hasn't been able to do that OR, he no longer wants to do that. The guy himself has changed, his demeanor tells me that he hasn't been enjoying the job for a while now, the football has become dull and negative and the energy has dropped to half of what it was in his first 3 seasons. There have been rumors for years of players being unhappy, those have been confirmed by departing players and I think it has finally come home to roost. A manager first and foremost needs to motivate and lift players not just pick squads and formations and if he has lost the ability to do that with this squad then he won't be able to get the results. I would very much have liked him to succeed and for 3 games it looked like it was on the cards but I think it's over. Very sad about it, take no joy in it but we should be looking to try another voice in the dressing room.
A friends works at the club and apparently Ralph was seen at the training ground packing up some stuff from his office yesterday. Feel free to ignore but I get the feeling his sacking is close. Weren't SR meeting Semmens yesterday (allegedly)? Edit - just seen LTL's post above about the Rasmus meeting. Sounds like it's just a matter of time.
I have always been Ralph in, but now unfortunately I think it's time for a change. In his defence, he didn't get the striker we needed, and Lavia's injury has been a blow, but we're back in one of those long runs of dreadful form that have been too common during his time. Sometimes you just need a freshen up and a change. You never know what players will be reinvigorated under a new manager. Ironically, the Ralph we hired would be a great candidate to join now, but the years of poor spending under Gao look to have taken their toll on him. If only Sports Republic came in when Ralph did. And unfortunately, the discontent in the dressing room (rumoured) usually only ever means one thing for a manager.
Out of respect for him as a top class person, this situation needs sorting out urgently. It really is quite unseemly for the continued rumours etc to be dominating the discussion on what us basically a good club. Statements on what is/is not happening need to be made, in my view, this week for certain.
It's quite amusing watching the Twitter brigade getting angrier by the day as Ralph is still in charge.
I saw a rumour (completely unsubstantiated again) linking us to the u21 coach at Man city. Probably nonsense
