Good point. Now where's my loud speaker gone? Right. I HEAR THAT THE INCREDIBLY TALENTED STEVE BRUCE IS AVAILABLE TO MANAGE AGAIN. HE HAS A GOOD TRACK RECORD OF HELPING TEAMS TO GET PROMOTED. AND HE LOVES THE NORTH EAST.
"West Bromwich Albion have today parted company with Manager Steve Bruce. Backroom staff Steve Agnew, Stephen Clemence and Alex Bruce have also left The Hawthorns." LOL that Stephen Clemence tool follows him around everywhere he goes like a lost sheep! And some serious nepotism going on there with his son being in the backroom staff! Alex Bruce, the Norwich born son on a geordie who deciding he was going to play for Rep of Ireland and then when he couldn't get into their team decides to play for Northern Ireland.
Meh double last year and Champ league final will buy him plenty of time. Playing Nunez as lone striker seems to have mangled their system, and they're clearly missing Mane. That and TAA is **** atm.
Aging squad needing quite a hefty and expensive rebuild by the looks of it. Does the owner want to do this? Does he want Klopp to be the man to do this? Or has he completed the project he set out to do when buying the club?
Bruce has always been a Lower league manager - you look at his history and his best spells were in the Championship/old Div 1 and 2. 40% win rate is about as good as it got down in these leagues and his best spell of 300 odd games between Hull and Villa but 4 out of 6 seasons were spent in the Championship. Any time spent in the top division was pretty much ensured to be under 30% win rate (29%, 28% and 25% and mackems, us, WBA). In all honesty it is amazing he has ever been given a top flight job off the bat - he has basically lived off one outstanding season at Hull where he got into the top 10 and a Cup Final resulting in European football!
I'm sure Woy said something similar before taking the Watford job. It's the fault of the clubs who offer these decaying old dinosaurs the jobs, from Bruce's point of view he's had a job for 8 months and got a multi million pound pay off. If anyone's dumb enough to offer him a job again, he'll jump at the chance.
Why do pundits and journo's keep backing Bruce, in any management field history doesn't matter, it's your current performance that you are judged on and his has been terrible, taking WBA from the playoffs to relegation is the hallmark of a ****show of a manager.
Because they're all tedious bores that backslap their mates - ie Lawro's interminable "Big Sam guarantees Premier League survival" mantra.... except it doesn't anymore. Is he even rated that highly anyway? Unlike the other merry-go-round old bores like Woy, Moyes, Fat Sam, blah blah, Bruce has only been in the Prem a handful of seasons, and is much more of a Championship manager. That said though, he'll struggle to get a Championship job after this.
It's mental when you can literally wikipedia his "success" and realise its an absolute sham! They are meant to be journalists and have done some basic research to back up their wild claims...
I know I'm late and its been mentioned but here it is from the BBC https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/63119550 Steve Bruce: West Bromwich Albion part company with manager
