We know you want him to be ted hockaday But seriously fella, you’re a fitness expert now? And who do you want in to ‘tweak the system’ and turn us into world beaters with the squad we have?
Really disappointing outcome today and as we faded away to a nothingness it's hard to argue that we deserved anything. Also maybe it's time we moved away from bringing the likes of Klich and Ayling on to try and save the day as we were worse after the substitutions. Bamford probably deserves a little bit of leeway as he's obviously ring rusty, at least he was in there with opportunities to score which is more than anyone else managed. With the Arsenal up next it's likely going to be a tough couple of weeks, hopefully though we somehow pull a rabbit out of the hat which could turn out to be a season defining moment. What we can't do though is capitulate in the first few minutes like we did at the Emirates last season which is why I'd like to see appropriate tacticts and team selection/formation to maximise our chances of getting a result.
Thought paddy was poor today. Strikers miss chances so I’m not going to get on his case on the 1v1 but we had a lot of promising situations in the first half particularly but a few in the second half too that came to nothing from a poor touch/lay off-from him Hopefully it’s rustiness because the way we play we need a striker who can hold up and link play. It’s worrying that we don’t have a like for like alternative because rod/joffy/Willy are different types of player.
Kind of funny how most posters are now saying we were awful against Villa, where we gained a point with a hard fought backs to the wall performance but think that today we were better for some reason ? Second half had to be as inept as you can get really.
I keep hearing the suggestion that we should play Willie Tonto as a striker, but isn't he an out-and-out winger? There aren't too many 4'6" strikers, & if anyone was going to design the perfect body for a winger, he'd be it.
We didn’t play well in the first half against Villa. We did play well in the first half today. Second half it felt like we had a slow puncture and gradually just faded out of the match.
I think we have some decent players so yes I do. Something is just out, I can’t put my finger on it but we’re not far off being a team who could comfortably avoid a relegation dog fight
Do you have to be an expert to see us not being fit enough to last 90 minutes playing the way we did in the first 45? If the answer is yes then I guess I must be one without realising. I didn’t want Jesse from day one, his record and experience were always in question. The squad we have is capable of doing better, if you’re happy with Jesse that’s fine by me mate.
For crying out loud, how many times do us fans have to say this, a bloody striker who knows where the net is, And for Llorente & Cooper to cut out all the friggin mistakes their making, but we really should have invested in the future by signing a good striker above anything else.
I don’t disagree but we’re not getting one until the new year, then we might still not, all I’m saying is the bunch we have should be good enough to stay out of a dogfight at the bottom. Sadly it doesn’t seem the case at the moment
And it's the might not that worries me, as a new striker as we can all see is imperative, today we put in decent crosses and no one had the instinct to anticipate them, so they just looked like poor crosses, also missed a couple of sitters that a striker worth his salt would have taken at least one of them.
Wish we could find another Bechio/Beckford type player yes i know their from back in the old league1/championship days but i swear their better than anything we have now.
That was the difference between palarse and us plus the falling down all the time. That zaha is a right cheating khunt.
We’re not getting one. No quality striker will opt for a relegation fight. The good ones are only interested in clubs that can offer a chance of European football. We’re miles away from that
