They have been, but there either ignorance or reluctance to fill the gaping holes in the squad is going to kill us. They don’t seem to have a clue about how to build a squad of footballers. They’ve done a good job at bringing in the talent like you’ve said but are currently looking as bad as we ever did last season.
I assume Darnborough still has a say in the domestic signings, which probably explains why they’ve underperformed so far. I think Acun and Tan have probably overestimated the quality of a few of our defenders and now they’ve been shown up when we’ve set up our full squad to play more ‘expansive’. Hopefully they’ve realised this and address it in the next couple of windows, although Acun doubling down on his ‘rather lose 3-2’ comment was a bit concerning.
Humberside madness - 'either Barmby returns or we'll go down this season.' If Nicky Barmby spends 5 more years out of coaching some City fans will want him as England manager.
I really don't think we do. Some of the games last season were dire, and I do think we're better it's just the 1st goals is going against us and getting that rub of the green. I mentioned all summer that I'd have done a full rebuild but wouldn't have brought in seasoned pros as backups. I'd have gone for younger players which can develop, but Acun seems to be in a real rush and that's costing us. The seasonsed pros will be costing a fortune and they've largely been complete crap. I think the biggest error was not bringing in a proper centre half. We bodged it Figs, thinking he would be good enough and seemed to subscribe to the notion that we are significantly better defensively last year than we were. Once again, I said all summer that whilst we had a solid defensive record, it was playing incredibly defensively so it doesn't really mean anything. One thing I really don't like is that we're panicking late on in windows again. Why on earth did we bring Simons in? He can't get a sniff and it's not even a loan with an option, Vale is a highly rated young player but he needs time and he won't be getting that here. He's also not really a winger so it's just bizarre.
pretty much agree with all that. Woods was a weird signing for me. I think he’s a decent player but he’s almost exactly the same profile as Seri, and will be costing us a decent wedge you’d have thought. The money he and Simons are costing us, surely we could have brought a proven defensive midfielder who would’ve brought a different option at the very least.
Who ever comes in is going to have the same squad up to January, 16 players brought in I think yet we still need more, yes injuries especially the two wide players have been missed but we can stick this player that player in yet the squad is still not good enough. We have potential and have some decent players but don’t most teams? Some vital positions we really lack, going back to our signings some on here saying what a great signing this kid is ect ect ect but like I’ve always said until you see a player on the pitch and can judge him for yourself then wait and see. With or without signings we are going to have to tighten the defence and going forward Oscar needs a lot more movement around him to create more problems. Looking back at today’s game even though we lost and didn’t do no way near enough yet still have two great chances which change games. It’s easy on here to know the answers but-doing it with the squad we have available is not easy. Everybody knows we have to keep clean sheets and score more, it’s common sense. I’m scratching my head at the moment and know we need strengthening but until we can we have to go with what we have and scrape as many points as we can up to Christmas. What a shame we have to think like this after our summer of signings yet unfortunately we do.
Welcome to Acun's vanity project. More of an attempt to boost his TV ratings in Turkey than an genuine endeavor to run a Championship football team. It could have gone 0ne of two ways this season. Either a spectacular success with a talented team or a total **** show with a bunch of disfunctional individuals. We got the latter.
Another beasting. The last time I witnessed one as severe was at public school when a young *** was caught pilfering from the tuck shop. The punishment was rapid and severe.
Which may be ok if surrounded by players equally comfortable with the ball, but he isn’t, so often plays them into trouble.
For someone bought from a premier league club, his first touch is absolutely shocking. To be fair though, he was pulled for offside twice, when replays confirmed he had timed it well.
He was a reserve player for a Premier League club, he’d barely featured for Brighton at all. He was their Nicky Featherstone.
Something badly very wrong though that two young lads have to rely on a last ditch tackle on a veteran attacker from a ball over the top.
Meanwhile, back in Lisboa, quaffing his favourite Duoro Valley red, Pedro quietly smiles at his good fortune to have avoided becoming involved in this shambolic train wreck.
But presumably brought up in their academy? I would have thought the first touch was a prerequisite of someone a youngster attached to a highly rated academy.
