The 1st half was one of the worst City displays in years, absolutely shocking. 2nd half was a lot better although the game had already been lost. I watch NPs pre match interviews, arrogance in his manner to say he knows what he’s doing and how dare anyone question his knowledge of the situation.. Have to say, although I want to…I’m not convinced. I’m definitely not buying from some regarding budget, the mess he was dealt with, hands tied and players not good enough. He’s on borrowed time imo.. NB.. who mentioned play off final?
Getting ready to board my ship to Hawaii and couldn't be arsed to watch the game as I was somewhat expecting the result. Losing 0-3 to Birmingham is about as bad as it can get and how on earth Nigel can respond to this crap will be interesting. I find it totally unacceptable that our current manager is unable to get more out of this lot despite all of his talk about us being as close as we ever will be to promotion. Steve Lansdown must surely be fuming, and rightly so, at the lack of progression under NP and perhaps upon my return from the sea changes could be made. I truly believed that Pearson was going to be our redeemer but I have been disturbed by his cavalier attitude in interviews which have led me to think that his heart and mind are not focused on the job at hand. Our progression from any point or manager you wish to choose has been non-existent and the current situation demands at least a real life face to face conversation between NP and Lansdown as to whether a change needs to be made. Something, or somebody, has to give to stop us falling off the edge to nowhere. Aloha to you all.
I am hoping for a top 10, looking doubtful at the moment, I have always blamed LJ for the **** show he blessed us with, I won't beat about the bush I promised myself to make a judgement about NP after 1o games, we have now gone 13 and I believe the **** show we are suffering this season is down to NP totally, we may be more stable as a club but as a team it's looking gutless, it needs a swift improvement or bounce him the hell out.
Angelic is spot on in that a single point is in the managerial firing territory and perhaps that may happen, There are some good people out there looking for work and that would include Wilder and Dyche but I wonder if any decent managers would want to join the annual mayhem that is Bristol City. All we need on top of this is for FFP to give us a points deduction to make our lack of progression even worse. Why on earth is our club so poorly run without ever finding the way to some success on such a consistent basis? Was the attendance really only just over 3,000?
He is but seeing as he left his past two jobs because he wasn’t given money to spend he won’t last 5 seconds here as we have absolutely nothing.
i honestly don’t think a manager change would make a lot of difference-very limited squad at his disposal.
FFS, it was COVID that left us, and many others in financial trouble, before that we were fine and making profit. As you say, NP has to stand on his own merit now after 2 years at the club. So far there has been zero discernible progress. The criticism of the last 2 managers was that they weren’t experienced enough to deserve the job, well NP is, and to be honest he isn’t doing very well. A short winning streak here and there sandwiched between longer spells of no wins. He stands or falls by his record now, very few clubs in the Championship have had money to spend in the last 2 years, so that can’t be used as an excuse either. Maybe NP is past it? I heard today that he and Bruce are the 2 oldest managers in the Championship
just back from gym first time listened to his interview he is fuming internally-hope he kicks ass before Wednesday
1 point from 5 games obviously isn’t good, 3 of the teams are 2rd, 3rd & 4th, more concerning is our performance against Coventry & again today. For context we are 4 points off of relegation, but equally 4 points from 8th, so exactly mid table. No need to panic yet, …. Quite.
That game might be interesting with Preston beating Norwich away today.. 1 point from 5 games after a couple of decent performances just a few weeks ago is just not good enough. Through out this season our flaws have been in defending. Pearson, coming from a background as a player, should be sorting this shambles by now, either his tactics are not working or the players are ignoring him. What’s really frustrating, the players on their day do have the ability to perform.. What’s happened to our high press fast tempo, being on the front foot game?? That first half is as bad if not worse than anything I’ve witnessed in a City game for years..
This list just demonstrates how serious our troubles were. How Bristol City's £38.4m losses compare with their 23 Championship rivals Bristol City have experienced two challenging campaigns on and off the field as the Lansdown's model of supposed "sustainability" has been brutally exposed by the pandemic, the collapse of the transfer market and high wage bill B/mouth £17m profit Sheff Utd £9.5m profit Huddersfield £2.6m profit P/boro £1.08 loss Luton £1.09 loss Barnsley £4.2m loss QPR £4.7m loss Coventry £4.7m loss B/pool £4.8m loss Stoke £5.6m loss Blackburn £6.6m loss Hull £8.15m loss Cardiff £13.1m loss Preston £13.5m loss Nottingham For £ 15.5 loss M/boro £30.8m loss Reading £35.7 loss Bristol City £38.4m loss Fulham £94.4m loss B/ham/WBA/Derby/Swansea Accounts still to be given at this time. 'The Robins have blamed the collapse of the transfer market for their worrying figures as after posting a profit in 2018/19, their losses continue to rise against an unsustainable wage bill. Player sales plummeted from £25.6m to £6.2m, while player salaries grew by six per cent to £35.3m which the club has since looked to reduce considerably.' Just for information Lee Johnson left club July 2020 - Covid seriously kicked off March/ April 2020 - Nigel Pearson signed as manager on a 3 year contract April 2021 after a 3 month temporary. https://www.bristolpost.co.uk/sport/football/how-bristol-citys-384m-losses-6921841
I think NP has about a month to get it right, or SL might take action. The World Cup provides a good mid-season break for the Championship where owners/chairman can make a change and give any new manager 3-4 weeks to work with the players before the league resumes. Also, it’s only a month to the transfer window then. SL has generally not been as quick to pull the trigger as some clubs, so I would be amazed if he does anything before mid-Nov.
