So this is the Comas that you all refer to with such reverence. Doesn't seem at all outspoken to me <doh>

Anyone who thinks Rugby or Cricket are better than football has issues.

Theres a reason one sport is massive and the other 2 are played in about 12 countries world wide each.

One of them can stop 2 warring factions in the middle of the worst war ever fought at that time.

one of them can bring a whole nation together, including those who spend the rest of the year complaining about how its just 11 men kicking a ball ( die ).

Pl football is one of Englands major exports aswell.

Less and less kids are playing rugby aswell and I dont see that changing.

I wasn't dissing footie, but I love cricket. It's also not played by yanks, which is a major bonus - they could never understand it. Also we're best in the world at test cricket <ok>

Interesting terminology. I don't have any issues whatsoever. It is merely a matter of my personal preference. I have in my life, and still do and will continue to, watched more football than any other sport, bar none. It is the single most accessible sport in the world, be it to play or to watch. It's out there more than any other and anyone can find a 'ball' to kick about.

Test cricket is entirely different and so shouldn't really be compared as, aside from actually winning, the end objective is just different. As is the game itself. But to just say one is 'better' than the other and anyone who says otherwise is stupid is itself highly stupid don't you think?

It's like saying my pair of jeans is better than your mars bar and if you think differently you have issues.

To say football is better than all sports is 100% correct.

its not regarded as the number one sport on earth for nothing after all.

And only commonwealth nations play cricket it seems.

UIR. I know you've had some tough breaks recently and in the past, but you've no need to take it out on cricket. It's never done you any harm. Just ignore it. It's you who brought it up in the first place. It's a totally different game to footie, so if you don't like it, don't watch it.

Neither have England played a test match against Ireland, Scotland or Holland but that doesn't stop them from playing and understanding the rules!

I'd much rather watch the Aussie rugby league team throw the ball around and win ;)

Check out the guy at 1:30 who chips and chases, catches his own kick and then makes a perfect pass to the wing without even looking!

As for Wales surviving in rugby league, I think there'd be a lot more Bloodgates if they were tackled like this on a regular basis...

Without wanting to sound too up my arse I think 'better' is the wrong word. It's completely subjective which is the better, depending on each individuals taste. Because more people watch and play football does not officially make it better.

    More popular perhaps?

I personally love the game of cricket..

this may be a bit controversial but if i was given the choice of an all expenses paid day at OT on a wet december watching us beat wigan or a summers day at lords all expenses paid to watch England....

I would choose the day at the cricket.

This is not to say I think cricket is a better game or such like.. as RR points out I dont think you can compare the two, I love Test cricket the way the game ebbs and flows over 5 days.. I honestly think people who do not like cricket do not understand it.. As i do not see what there is not to like..

Now if given the choice of going to watch worcester in the county championship play glamorgan or a day at OT then definitely a day at OT..

This is the only thread I've ever seen where club allegiances seem to have been forgotten (well almost).

I agree with the above comments about Test match cricket <ok> it's a game like no other and so it's pointless to compare, I think it's just a Marmite thing.

As for corruption/cheating in rugby or cricket I doubt it is any worse than in many other sports...I love boxing as well but you'd be hard pushed to argue there's EVER been a more corrupt sport, I love snooker which has had its fair share of betting scandals recently, Athletics (riddled with drugs for decades), Baseball too (Bonds and McGwire the most notable of recent years)....greed will always fuel certain peoples motives whatever their sport but it doesn't make the sport itself any less worthy if it's what your into.
