1. I've seen plenty of players get big fat contract renewals (and swollen egos) on the back of a handful of good games, an England cap and a few rave reviews though Dave. 2. I accept your point about the media/fans being responsible for most of it but slagging Rooney is more fun than some half arsed pundit 3. Don't slag my footballing career I still play regularly, I'm class and in my prime and will undoubtedly get the call from King Kenny one day soon.
Wayne Rooney. Not calling him crap or saying he is this or that. The media have overhyped this poor lad to a degree long since grown out of sort of meaurement. I am not blaming him. But that is the truth.
I'd take Bale in a flash over Downing. He's overrated but he's still damn good. I'd say Gervinho, Mertesacker, Ashley Cole, Adam (don't think we should have bought him) and Ferdinand (Rio).
Glen Johnson is another one. A lot of people were raving about him and he came at a high price however I think Kelly is already better than Johnson for you.
I'm one of those that when I look at GJ, I don't really see a RB ( same with Kelly too, more of a CB for him). I think GJ would do well as an outside mid for us but I don't think it will happen. Not saying he will turn into Gareth Bale in terms of an epiphany on where he should play but I think he would do a bang up job higher up the field.
Gerrard; he rarely does the business in big games (Istanbul yes, West Ham and Olympiakos, ha ha) Carroll, Henderson, Torres (one vg season) for their price tags Modric (45m, come on!)
Oh come on, he's scored goals everywhere he's gone. You've got old players like Gerrard and Lampard that just can't cut it anymore but were great in their day so I think it's harsh to call them overrated. Then there's Bale, Carroll, Wilshire and Luiz who are talented but I think everyone got a bit carried away with. Looking at the Arsenal board I don't think there's a single player on their books that they won't claim is either the best or one of the best in the league so take your pick from their squad for someone who's overrated
He always starts well at a club but is not a reliable striker throughout a season. He has scored goals and is a good player but not good enough which is why he moves on often.
He scored 24 league goals in a season for Arsenal and averages about 4 goals every 10 games, which is pretty good. He's certainly not "terrible 90% of the time", I'd expect that kind of nonsense from KPR, not you.
Ok the terrible 90% of the time is an overreaction. The 24 league goals was in the 07/08 season but other than that his record is not that impressive. His maximum in the league other than that is 14 in 09/10 Man City and then 13 02/03 Metz then 10 08/09 Arsenal. Now other than that he has failed to get double figures in 9 seasons. My point is he is overrated and not a top 4 player which is where Spurs want to be. I think Spurs need to look elsewhere. Comparing me to KPR Ouch!
Adebayor is a decent player but he doesn't have the mentality to be a top one, IMO. He starts on fire at his new club then fades badly by the second half of the season and starts falling out with everybody.
