I think Willock has more to offer and should have a bright future here. Yes, ideally we sign some new 'purple' players to push him onto the bench, but even if so then I think he has a future and can make an impact from the bench or when needed due to injuries/suspensions. With Longstaff we should aim get to the point where he is pushed out from the match day squad by the end of next summer's window. Alongside Murphy. Shelvey is decent back-up but id more towards the tail end of his Prem career. We should be planning to build without him beyond next season.
Well I don't care, so long as Joelinton is playing, play Willock or Longstaff RCM, it's up to you, but Joelinton should be starting. I'm not impressed that some of our players had one of their best games ever vs a depleted Fulham side.
What part isn't necessarily true? The FACT he played DLP for Lyon with Paquetta (B2B) and Aouar (AP) in front of him? The position we have bought him for, and the position Arsenal were in for him for. Or the fact that you would Prefer him to play in a more advanced role requiring a different skill set to those that he is best at? The kid is looking world class doing what he's doing, I don't care who scores as long as someone does. We're 9 games from the next window with the attacking midfield role looking like the priority, which very much suggests Howe see's him as a DLP. PS.....Isak will be playing RW not Striker when Wilson is fit.
I don't see why Isak would play RW personally. He's only a make shift winger, he mainly plays striker. I'd rather have him on the left cutting in on the right. ASM can be effective on the left or right as he can cross and shoot. On the subject of Bruno https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/61055887 - Newcastle 2-1 Leicester - 2 goals from Bruno. He wasn't playing deep lying mid, he was playing LCM. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/59792555 - Southampton 1-2 Newcastle - 1 goal from Bruno - He wasn't playing deep lying mid, he was playing LCM His other 2 goals came when he was playing the central CM. He's playing a deeper role than he did last season, and although he's good there, I feel like he's more dangerous if allowed to get forward which the left and right sided CM's usually do. Bruno can be a deep lying playmaker, but he's not restricted to that role, which is what you were kind of implying he was, as proven last season, when he created chances and scored goals elsewhere. When Shelvey was fit, he was playing the deep lying role and Bruno was getting forward. I think buying a CDM and pushing Bruno to LCM/RCM would be better. Imagine - ---Bruno--------Maddison--- -------------CDM-------------
On Maddison..... I reckon that ship has sailed and we missed it. Hope I'm wrong, I reckon he'll be at Old Trafford come Feb.
Bench by the sound of it.... I think it'll be unchanged.. who knows but its hard to drop players if they played well..
It should be unchanged I agree unless anyone is carrying an injury. He defo gets a cameo today. Against a tired defence he will cause havoc. 3-1 today.
Plus it would be nice if they don't get hurried back and hour out for another spell. I like the idea of having him and Isak back for man united .
That’s a good point. Howe generally doesn’t rush players back unless it’s necessary. On another side note it was telling that although we had Wood available last week he kept on Murphy up front. Which is a bit bizarre.
Murphy longstaff played well , but it's 50 to 100 games they haven't that I'd focus on, but howe has to have players that believe if they perform they'll get rewarded... Will Joelinton start? I hope so , but I'm beginning to realise howe isn't daft and whoever has picks they'll have chance to win.
Imagine any of the combinations but with Kante (whose contract is up at the end of the season I think) or someone of his mould as the CDM. Not saying we're likely to get him but I think it highlights, if only to myself, what position we need there.
