Haaland has to do something to impress the lassies. It's not easy pulling burds when you've got a face like a melted welliy. (Pretty sure Ell can confirm this from personal experience - the melted welly bit, that is! )
I once heard an interview with Crouch, What would you be if you weren’t a professional footballer? Crouch, A virgin. Fair play for his honesty.
Only a 'coach' like Pep could make Erling into the player he is today, he wouldn't cut it in the Championship or League one if he was plying his trade there
Lots of stories this week about RH on the cusp of being sacked at Southampton, is this fair? We have debated squad values and on that basis Southampton are about where they should be, but is the owners who expected more bang for their buck. Not long ago pundits were talking about Ralf in the same space as Potter at Brighton, he was mentioned in race for the Man Utd gig before Ralf Rangnik took over, mentioned as replacing Rodgers at Leicester if he moved. Even mentioned as Bielsa replacement when he left. So whats going on? Is Ralf crap, is it bad owners
Who would have ever imagined after season three that Bielsa would get the sack, we all assumed he’d walk one day. Wilko the same, sometimes all the ingredients just mix right for that moment in time. Now it’s all about the money, Pep is a decent coach but he’d not win a title at any of the sides with limited funds. Most PL owners are just simply unrealistic. There are not many business models where you can spend £60m on improving the plan and you watch it go backwards, football is one and it’s the owners who never accept this fact
I think RH has done a good job there. They punted this summer on a lot of high ticket value kids from city and the continent. That’s a long term play. Any manager that keeps Southampton in the Prem has gone a decent job. Not sure what these owners expect tbh.
Struggle to see why Jesse Marsch was mentioned as replacement for RH at Southampton, why? Both coaches are from the Red Bull school for a start. Southampton employed the Man City head of scouting as new technical director and then he brought in a load of Man City kids. Surely this says they prefer the Pep school of thought above Red Bull?
