Not at all, I’ve been very consistent with my criticism of the way we recruited and how we were playing under Shota.

All speculation, was it the training ground, was it the budget ect. Who knows but one thing I would have thought , to bring him here and didn’t I read somewhere he wanted to bring in four others with him then to get them all in on big wages must cost a massive amount. It could have been down to wages for the group although I still think another club will have shown interest. Anyway it’s not happening so you move on.

More perplexed than disappointed. The one that got away…who knows? One thing is for sure though..I doubt Andy Dawson will ever have a better opportunity now to manage a club he obviously loves.

    Good luck pal.

Who knows what might have been...remember the appointment of Parky from Colchester. Up and coming manager, real excitement...and we all saw how that went.

As some silly old duffer from Oswestry always posts on their message board, never shuts up about how great Ipswich is.

Wolverhampton is indeed a crap hole, but it is also home to one of England’s finest pubs.

I wouldn’t really say we got a new manager bounce from Phelan, what was it, win v the Champions & then Swansea, then go defensive & put Marshall in goal. Absolute disaster after a decent start.
I would hope if Dawson gets a bounce it’s a lot better than that ****e!

Hull City say they have been "unable to reach a mutually agreeable position" with Pedro Martins over becoming head coach and have cancelled negotiations.

The Portuguese had been in talks with the Championship club all week and sat with owner Acun Ilicali for their home win over Wigan on Wednesday.

Hull sacked Shota Arveladze ahead of their 2-0 defeat by Luton last Friday.

"Pedro is a great coach but we didn't feel we were able to meet his demands," Ilicali told the club website.

"We have been inundated with interest from high-calibre coaches around the world and we will continue to consider all of our options until we find the correct candidate to lead this great club forward

"This is a very important decision for us and not something we want to rush."

Martins has also been linked with the managerial vacancy at Premier League side Wolves.

The former Olympiakos boss, 52, said it was "an honour to receive an invitation to coach a great club".

"Unfortunately, at this time, the conditions that would allow an agreement were not met," he said.

"Hull City are a great English club and are in good hands to reach the Premier League sooner than you might expect."

Ilicali confirmed that caretaker Andy Dawson will remain in charge until a successor is appointed, adding "we are more than happy with the work he and his team have done in the last week".

The Tigers, who are 17th in the Championship, travel to Huddersfield Town on Sunday.

I am disappointed that it has fallen through with Pedro, though like all our summer signings, I had never heard of him but it did manage to blow my trainer socks off. However there was an element of risk in what was likely to be a massive investment.
Acun stated that we couldn’t meet Pedro’s demands. Wanting to bring in four of his back room was a huge and expensive ask. For me, it’s highly likely that was the stumbling block.
I’d like to think Acun told him that He wants Daws remaining involved.

The way the players have responded to Daws has probably bought Acun some time. With the managers available now and others likely to become available before the World Cup break, it’s actually a good position to be in.

If the problem was indeed assurances about the training facilities then what’s the problem?

Acun has already said they need an upgrade so why not just do it?

Any proper manager we bring in is going to want the same, the facilities are a joke.

Just do it. Purchase, planning, design, build, financing all of which take time to agree and we're looking at the next manager signing a 3 year contract.

Just 'doing it' will take 3 years from a standing start. How long was Martins proposed contract?
