More like he could buy a villa or 3 in Portugal or Barbados with it! Good luck to him. It's not his fault that clubs decide to take him on, and, tbf, he was good for us (until he was ****) so I don't get the hate / abuse.
Fact he's still employed despite being a dying breed is credit to himself. He was right for us at the time. But he obviously chose a ****ing good agent.
The more I think about this appointment the more happy I am with it. It reminds me of when we appointed Bruce in 2012 and he seemed to be a whole new level of manager we hadn't really had before - someone who had managed plenty of PL clubs, had good contacts to the game, and brought a new level of legitimacy to our ambition as a club. In a same way Martins seems like that next level of manager/coach we haven't seen (well arguably outside of Slutsky and Silva perhaps) with CL experience and a high calibre of manager. This time (unlike Silva) his ambition is matched by the club, and so should hopefully be a really positive, exciting appointment. Whilst the signings in the summer window were clearly largely driven by Acun and Tan, I can see Martins having a much firmer say on the direction of recruitment in January, and at the same time, players more happy to join with him at the helm. HOPEFULLY, onwards and upwards. I'm still skeptical of the sustained success we'll be able to manage before January, but this morning gave me more hope than I otherwise had, with players thriving in new roles in the side. I still think we looked somewhat shaky at the back, and if not for a Baxter save would have dropped two points, but perhaps all is not lost.
Given he was happy to be seen in public in the directors box next to our owner, I'm assuming all parties must be pretty confident.

-> "When's the last manager we appointed have champions league experience and a track record of UEFA qualification at 3 other clubs? On paper it's a coup" Actually, if you read that first sentence, it doesn't make sense at all!!! Just saying like
