You're right. You hear them sometimes and wonder "why do they put themselves through this?". They can't enjoy it, not even a win; that just seems to bring a small relief from the angst. Talk about a glass being half full or half empty. These feckers haven't even got a glass! Going to the match is supposed to be enjoyable, seeing if your team can win, not something to endure and whinge about. In the Premier League of course, it can be hideously attritional, and the football dire. But even then, surely its better for these tortured souls to just not go than punish themselves? I'll never understand it.
i have sat through some dire games, usually while trying to keep warm and i cannot remember booing the lads...i have called the odd stray pass and dismal performance by one player or another but i always enjoyed my day and wish i could get back, although i would still call a sh1te performance exactly that.
I take the view that you have to ask yourself whether booing a player or shouting you're ****e at them is going to help them perform better.
