Nothing I saw out there tonight gives me any confidence of anything other than a lower mid-table finish. Our players are like statues when the play isn't in their area of the pitch and when it does come to them they look for the easy way out by passing without thought. We have never looked like a squad that are playing for each other and the overall dynamics stink out the joint and that's why we can't punch our way out of the proverbial wet paper bag. Teams who play with gusto and togetherness will blow us out of any park and despite all the positive predictions of who we will be in a few seasons, we fall apart at the seams. We are heading down the same road to nowhere, but at least we know the route better than most and disappointment still reigns.
I wish Massengo was as composed in front of goal as he is in midfield. A case of the chances falling to the wrong players in front of goal for us tonight. On the positive note, Atkinson was superb, and the defence looked pretty solid to be fair.
I agree, looks frightened to score! Hindsight’s a wonderful thing I know, but wonder if Conway starting would have given us that edge.. Semenyo didn’t look to up for it tonight imo.. or maybe we could have mixed it up a bit, switching Weimann or Semenyo (position) I do think we need to think outside the box sometimes
Hope it looked better on TV than live. I ain’t inviting any of those players to my granddaughters party. They will destroy anyone at musical statues. King was ok as CH and kept it all calm without Naismith in there had to help. Messango looked like he wanted to get forward but no one moved in front. Semenyo was man marked and looked out of sorts. Conway they didn’t mark so tight so he looked better. Weinmann has to help Sykes out so much he’s effectively out the game. Boring game when Messango has the most shots shows how effective we were in front of goal.
Big backer of Nige-but we could clearly see that side was not going to beat Coventry after 65 minutes. Do have to question the substitutions- if you going to keep lumping it into the box then Chris Martin was the player to bring on. With Wells-Semenyo-Conway they need it on the deck. I thought Messengo-Atkinson-King were decent tonight. Naismith going of I would have put Vyner in the Middle alongside Atkinson and brought either Tanner or Pring on into Vyners place. Not sure what Nige was thinking but that game was there for the taking for me he did not make the right changes to try and win the game.
got the result at 2230! disappointing? I actually thought it was the right decision to bring on Conway, thought he was a breath of fresh air..maybe had he started we may have had more joy,, Thought Semenyo played far too deep throughout the game, the amount of crosses launched in by DaSilva with no one on the end was wasted. Massengo was our only movement in the middle and like you say was decent, but I thought our pressing and high tempo was missing... In all fairness to Coventry, they contained us well...And had plenty of chances to have walked away with all 3 points..
Unbeaten in 4, granted most have been draws. They may be at the bottom but they have games in hand and have only actually played two games at home all season. One they won beating Boro but three draws on the road.
