Has anybody else heard the possibility of Steve Coppell being given the manager job? This has been tweeted from Sam Matterface at TalkSport - and there is going to be something in the News tomorrow. It is also in the Daily Mirror - but that doesn't make it a reliable story. Thoughts?
Apparantly was at the game Tuesday. If we survive the first month without him walking, it could be a very good appointment in my opinion! A certain ginger striker will also be very pleased!
Are Pompey fans sophisticated enough to accept an openly intelligent manager? The answer for me is a big yes!
I had him on my list the day SC walked..........and got flack for it, but none the less he is a proven manager at al levels, has guided two teams to the top flight and is well liked and respected.........apart from any one from the bristol area obviously A rumour surfacing this morning is that OGS was interested in the job, but had quite high wage demands to be able move his family, and the cost implications of bringing his back room staff and familys would be hefty too............. I reckon a statement on friday will be in order and we will know who is at the helm in time for forest, I hope it is still OGS, but will be equally and more pleased with SC than OD..... PUP
So, let me get this clear in my mind - possibly SC to replace SC, although we wouldn't mind OGS, but rather not SOD. GW doesn't want the job, so where does that leave SG ? No one wants the Son of God (GH), DJ & EH have both said no - have I forgotten anyone ?! Did someone mention a Swede ?
If Steve Coppell joins it would mean that the club will save a few quid, provided he can fit into Steve Cotterill's tracksuit with SC on it
If MA gets the job and we reach the Cup Final and the play-off final (I'm a Pompey fan, I can dream!) I look forward to a rendition or six of: Tell me MA, me MA, to put the champaigne on ice...etc
Michael who ?? ...and as for Mr Coppell, is this the guy that when he gets a bit fed up with things, just jacks it in? He has got form on this issue. It was not only Brizzol City that suffered this indignity. Can you imagine last season with Coppell at the helm- or not as the case may be, as he would surely have done a runner within the first few days! Exciting isn't it! Is there anyone else, apart from maybe Danny Wilson or Micky Adams ..god forbid, that has'nt been linked with the job?
You loyal pompey fans must be wondering what the hell is going on. I rather suspect that DL is seeking the man who will do the job for the least amount of money.
What about Nigel Adkins? Doing a good job down the road and might be interested in joining a bigger club?
