Respect this is your forum but can't understand all this hand-wringing over politics and what's right for the country on here. As individuals, you are what you are and you do your best for yourself and your family right now - you'll never create the perfect environment with all the diverse agendas on show.

Wishing your life away waiting for Utopia to appear will get you nowhere. Help yourself but just respect others, because no other sod gives a **** about you despite all the rhetoric you here from politicians in the media.

BTW, the US markets have just opened and the S & P and Dow are both up 2%.

so you have to respect others who dont give a shi* about you .. so they are the cause of your problems and you have to respect that...

free speech in a democratic enviroment and a sharing of opinions comes to mind ........

It has been the way on here for years always a diversification to Football which at best takes up a concentrated 4 hours a week?
A lot on here regarding local stuff is bandied about which may or may not be in the news ... and what individuals do .. home and abroad ... as Wiz says makes for interest and banter .... also I for one have a few "friends ex colleagues etc in care" and they enjoy this forum mostare BCFC a couple BRFC or not really interested in football .. none will register or reply although I do sometimes " cover their comments" ......

..........and long may it continue, but that's not the point I was making.

I was merely commenting on the back and forth tit for tat conversations, which although may be relevant to the discussion, will not solve anything personally.

Not everyone is as capable as you or I appear to be, but personal life needs to be got on with whilst all this political ****e is flying about.

I can only speak for myself Sparkey.
I’m approaching retirement - and my wife and I have wanted to spend our retirement in the Spanish sunshine.
Brexit has put a big dent in that, so I’m mighty pissed off about it - but I was just about learning to live with it and find some workarounds.
Then, this new economic **** is happening - which will affect how much I might be able to get for my house here in the UK - or how much I might have to pay for it if I CANT sell - EDIT - and how much my £pound will buy when I DO sell……
I accept this is my own issue so others may not care - but it matters to ME big time.
Added to this, my son is a new copper and has been in the police for less than 2 years. He was due a £2k pay rise which Liz Truss has now cancelled. He and his colleagues put their lives on the line dealing with all sorts of scumbags who may sometimes want to kill them - or the politicians who govern them - but they get paid around £25kpa here in Wiltshire.
Please forgive me then for feeling a bit miffed when the richest 1% were offered a 5% tax cut but police officers are denied their £2k ‘for the greater good’.

Politics matters - it really affects our lives.
That’s why we have these threads and debates.

A great bunch of diverse characters, great conversation, interesting concepts, good for the soul and expands the mind, we all have one great interest in common Bristol City FC that is our binding cord, we have fellow BCFC fans join us from Canada, Australia, New Zealand and even a far off place like the Isle of Man, we agree and disagree but it works for all of us, we appreciate contributions from outside our own fanbase and long may it be.

Once again R&W - no problem with that at all and I've got every sympathy for you and yours in your particular circumstances. As always, it's an open forum and everyone can join in if they wish as acknowleged by Wiz.

What I've said may have gone a bit under the radar. I've no doubt it affects individuals in different ways, but in reality getting on with it is all that's going to matter. That's all I'm saying and not rubbishing anyone commenting on this thread - that's everybody's choice even if it is going around in circles.

BTW, the DOW and S&P are up nearly 3% now - just drawn down £800 profit in cash. <ok>

Private health care has one flaw that the hospitals don’t have HDU and ICU’s. If you have an op on private healthcare develop a heart condition leading to an attack they have to get you to a NHS hospital.
Or you could be like me, I had a hiatus hernia repair. Next day could not swallow even water and was released as the bed was precooked. I was in pain and my wife called then saying they said take painkillers. She then said that’s ok but if he can’t keep water down how is he going to have to take painkillers. After a long debate I had suppository’s.
Two weeks later I’m taken into Frenchay put straight onto a drip and I was dehydrated and lost 3 stone.
They are good but not really equipped in aftercare like NHS.

I am in a similar situation R&W, retired early 18 months ago and Brexit royally interfered with my plans. I can't let it go either. I now spend 2-3 months UK and then 2-3 months Spain. It actually works out quite well. The contrast between Radstock and Rojales is stark <laugh>. Sat on my Naya now 23 degrees with a cold beer so life could be worse. However whereas we always said we would not move to Spain full time, the £hit show in the UK currently does make it more likely. The Brits out here are laughing at the state the UK is in.

No one is saying the NHS isn’t great at most of what they do and you’ve identified a huge issue that I wasn’t aware of despite having had private operation 14 years ago and a general anaesthetic

Spot on, and no one will be surprised. but Labour have also done nowt in 12 years to arrest the decline they reckon they’ve been aware of all the way through and get people to vote for them

they are a bit like the CARE [ part of NHS] I had my operation at. They [CARE ] do operations to replace things ... have all the necessary staff for emergency treatment whilst you are in there, usually no more than 3 days. No ICU' etc and dont do A&E TYPE INJURY ...

It is the devil you know, better than the devil you dont know!
Difficult to draw comparisons, a working life of over 65 years I have seen some characters ... [ and social stream still in ] you get to acknowledge there are some who for all their faults are quite strong people. It was described of Boris that his failing is of self belief. And we have all seen this remarkably good side of him how he "gets things done "but although he has "done it" falls into chasm of allowing others to doubt it and persuade him that this is right or wrong!
people feed on negativity, media constantly feed this appetite as it sells ..... even when all the good bits of covid were being addressed the media and opposition highlighted all the negativity [ when there wasnt much about what did they do ... went back to spending £m's on wrong PP [ actually millions of people made their own masks and theyworked as well almost as the "wrong PP! did anyone say do not do that.... NO ]
I bet there are a few on here who have / known, associates who are colourful with the truth! ! !

ps what was his cheating? telling fibs was obvious /

There is a difference between an occasional little white lie and a career that is forged in lying
Yes he got some things right
Vaccine rollout and our stance on Ukraine are certainly things he will be remembered for
But for me his wins, though not insignificant are outweighed by the failings
The constant green policy pursuit and ignoring drilling further oil and gas fields to protect us all
Not dealing with Cummings when he should have
    Raising taxes and NI
    Not dealing with immigration
Not getting Brexit finished properly by
Not dealing with the NI protocol
Not dealing with British fisherman’s rights

I try and form my own opinions by listening to all sides but I can’t be doing with liars
I watched Liz Truss’s closing speech and despite the Greenpeace interruption I thought she came across really well
Time, if she is allowed it despite those who want her deposed after 4 weeks in the job, will tell
