I wonder how many if the “on the fence about Mowbray” lot have moved to the right side of it? I also wonder how many minds he’s changed too. Obviously we’ll still have the “he’s Boro and ****” lot who won’t give him a chance but hey ho!! Long may it continue
I never believed Alex Neil when he said the young players were burnt out. It was lazy manager speak, in my opinion, because he doesnt trust young players in the situation he came into. He got on a good run and everyone just went along with it. We got promoted so job done, but I still dont but Neil or others were knackered. That said younger players can be inconsistent formwise. Mowbray said that of Clarke when he had a stinker at Boro. Neil is the same, he will be inconsistent while he learns. I personally think he has been very good this season mainly, and him and Evans have been outstanding together. Partnerships on a pitch can be worth there weight in gold. I wouldnt be against Mowbray taking him out for a game or two though, just to keep that desire to play burning. We have all seen young lads think they have made it, only to drift away. Not sure Neil is like that, he seems very well grounded to me, but him sitting out from time to time, to keep his desire high, is ok by me. Same with all of the young lads, they should all know what it feels like to not play to keep the hunger burning. If players like Ba and Bennette can come in and perform to a high standard then we can afford to rotate a bit. Pritch does trouble me with what I assume is a lack of stamina. He is such a good player, but wish he could be a good player for 90 mins. We would be better for it obviously. Maybe with the likes of Embleton and this young lad from Paris, we can manage him better now.
I can see Jewi becoming a fan favourite! On the bus home after the match man! He has all the skills to be liked but so far he is going to win fans over by stuff like the bus home, as I said the other day even if he can't drive he could have got a taxi. Instead he is on the bus getting photos with young fans.
Is it wrong to feel this excited about our club after hearing how the manager almost drools over his young squad. Pinch myself that this is my club, after the last four seasons, but we as fans musn't put these kids under pressure and just enjoy what's unfolding in front of us.
Yep,that includes me.....(not the Boro thing though.) I was apprehensive of him and mentioned how dour I thought his press conferences were. My mistake, I'm really warming to him.He seems genuinely enthused by the talent available to him and comes across as very experienced enough to handle them.
The way Mowbray talks about these players in public makes you wonder whether Doyle and Dan Neil's drop offs last year would have happened with Mowbray in charge? I get the impression Mowbray would have loved Doyle, and vice versa.
And it's all been done without wild statements, posturing or splashing huge amounts. In L1 I grew tired of home fans, at away games, going on endlessly about us being arrogant big knackers with a massive budget ... ... all we get now are comments about how well we play and 'who's your full back' etc.
Blackpool seem to try and play football but have lost a few lately. Hopefully they wont just pack the midfield and stifle the game like Saturday. We have a lot of talent skill and pace but without Stewart are still a bit naïve when it comes to breaking teams down. Early goals are the key, get the game opened up and we win well. I think it could be a good return to form 4-0
Just loving going to game this year, no real pressure to win the league, so I can just enjoy the skill on show and I don’t think we have had as much raw talent in the squad in my lifetime and I am 64. I am not saying this team is better than the teams who finished 7th in the top flight , they don’t have the experience or game craft which comes with it. If we still had all of these kids at the age of 27 then it would a better team than Reid’s. For the time being let’s just enjoy watching this team develop. I know some will move on, but I have confidence that we will replace them with quality.
After looking after my g'daughter for a couple of days....she has a very heavy cold.. the little madame had passed it on to me...of the sneezy, blocked nose, sore throat and highish temp...variety I may just watch the match on Sky tonight, if the strikerless team score loads of goals I will be miffed at missing it.
Imo. There is something not quite right with ppl like this. The very same fans will whinge come what may and I've no time for them. The one thing I've noticed about the fans at the games this season is that they have all been behind the team.
I'm immensely impressed watching them this season. No fear and its so different to the team that we're last in The Championship
He tells it like it is and doesn't waffle on . He knows the area, the fans and more importantly the Championship and the players in it and will know what it takes.
I remember a game at home to Blackpool quite a few years ago, we had something like 20 shots at goal they had 2 shots and won 2 nill. unbelievable game, if we had won 8 nill Blackpool could have had no complaint.
I love the phrase soft feet. I always talk about players with great feet and sometimes people look at me sideways. It is a really natural thing to have that touch. Futsal is the best method to improve it, or old school 5 a side. Not enough of either sadly in youth football in this country.
