We're going to have to agree to disagree on this. On average, he referees 4 Arsenal games a season, we have dropped points and lost multiple times with him as the main official. You're also making an assumption that we haven't won games in spite of him being the referee, as opposed to it being because of him. He's officiated more top-6 bouts with Man City, which will partially explain their slightly inferior record with him in charge of their fixtures. However, as you've clearly demonstrated, with the bit I've highlighted in bold, there is no conclusive way of confirming bias. Because a lot of these officials are rubbish in other games, too.
FootballDotLondon claim that Conte was considered 352 for this one, but erred when Bissouma came back from the international break with a knock The biggest issue with this is that, while Bissouma may have had a knock (and Skipp is lacking match fitness), we still had Sarr fit and available - which is why he was on the bench
And that is 5 times worse than what Royal did, Xhaka goes in with great force, not an accidental standing on a shin like Royal.
Yeah but then again you guys literally got away with pulling a wrestling move on cucurella. A womens footballer has actually been banned from pulling hair. Swings and roundabouts isnt it
Conte doesn’t trust Sarr or Spence. Those 2 won’t see game time unless he’s got no alternatives and even then he will probably play a senior player out of position instead of using them.
Yup that's one. I'd wager every player in the prem has gotten away with a few bad tackles over the years. The comment was that Xhaka gets away with multiple fouls. So there must be loads more examples you can post.
And that's a problem It's not like either of them are going to slack off like Ndombele routinely did, nor be running on fumes by the 70th minute like Lo Celso or van der Vaart, but when seeing either of them on the bench is cause for comment that's highlighting the issue that we built our squad depth over the summer, yet refuse to use it
From just 40 odd games against different opponents in different circumstances that's what you probably conclude? Think we can all assume you don't work in stats then.
We can also conclude that you only turn up here when you beat us! Don't recall hearing from much from you in May
I’ve come to the completely logical conclusion that Emerson and to a lesser extent, Sessegnon and Doherty, have naked pics of Conte. Because that’s the only reason I can think of as to why they’re all still at this club and getting game time. In no right mind does a manager pick a defensive, brain lacking RB or a slow as **** semi-WB over an attacking, speedy, tailor-made RWB in Spence. No one in their right mind also bins a “decent” player to make way for a so called “huge potential” timid as **** lost cause. Canning Reguilon for Sessegnon has a similar vibe to when Poch canned Mason for Winks . I’d also like to partly blame @crackerman jack for the Sess stuff as Crackers was convinced Sess was going to come good. Damn well long con RCL hexed us, lol.
Oh without a doubt. Spence is gonna have to wait til Emerson, Doherty, Perisic, Sess, Lucas, Kulu and probably Forster are all injured/ suspended before he gets a chance at RWB.
Tbh whats wrong with doherty? He was great at wolves and even though he was terrible under santo, he was great when conte took over until he got a major injury and got plenty of goals/assists albeit in a short amount of games. I don't think he has had many opportunities this year but i think he would be far better than emerson if he were to start
Conte’s line is that he’s struggled to get fully fit after his injury last season, and he said before the international break that he was expecting to be able to start Doherty more often in this sequence of games coming up.
I really wanted Sess to come good but it doesn’t look like it’s going to happen. Reguilon is one I wasn’t bothered about tbh, he never massively impressed me and I don’t think he’s suited to Conte’s system so I get why he was loaned out. It’s Emerson that baffles me, he’s not a RWB at all yet gets in ahead of the 2 that can play that role. Doherty is average but he plated quite well before his injury last season so imo should definitely be ahead of Emerson. And if not Doherty then definitely give Spence a chance to see if he can handle it.
He was great for about 7 games under Conte, not the full spell. He’s also slow as **** and very technically lacking. Has good off the ball sense to get into attacking areas though which would definitely make him more suited to the WB role than Emerson, though most posters on here are more suited to the role than Emerson.
Is djed Spence even that good? Admittedly you dont know if you dont try but hes only ever done it in the championship for one season. Probably the next sessegnon. Understand the frustration though, all our managers kept insisting on playing the likes of mikel
I keep seeing people say Reguilon weren’t suited to the role but he was far better at it than Sessegnon. He attacked at every opportunity and seemingly attempted far more crosses - and beat the first man far more than Sessegnon’s. Sess is perhaps a little less erratic defensively compared to Reguilon, who often dived in unnecessarily but Sess ain’t a great defender in general either. I think most wanted it to work for Sessegnon but can’t allow sentiment to be clouding judgment - he’s absolute dogshit. Think I’m just cursed with having to watch awful footballers. Had Winks for 5 years, now currently got Sessegnon and Emerson.
We don’t know because the manager doesn’t play him. What we can probably deduce though is that he’s nowhere near as bad as Emerson.
