Just seen the spurs board. They are worried that @Sucky will start calling Richarlison the Brazilian Nunez Sucky to confirm?
Can neither confirm or deny. Will pop over seeing as they're missing me aint seen my spud buds for a while actually
I used to drive past loads of fans waiting for coaches to Liverpool & Utd, at the Tollgate, and think why wouldn’t you just choose a London club for PL football.
London is a cultural hub, a place people moved to for work etc from other areas with great clubs. so you will expect to bump into a few fans of said clubs in London. The fans you see waiting for busses are the glory hunting ****ers
Especially when they could have supported Gillingham or Charlton. Although I do have to ask myself why I even support Gillingham, I wasn't even born in the Medway Towns, let alone the town itself. The answer btw is a mate of mine is to blame, because he wanted to watch us play West Ham in a testimonial for Brian Yeo (1973) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brian_Yeo
From where I grew up the Gills were the closet league team as the bird flew, but before the Medway tunnel, Gillingham was a pain to drive to and you had to change at Strood for the train. My Grandad used to take me to Charlton as a youngster and it always seemed straightforward, so when I started to go with mates, we went to Charlton.
Wished I had gone to support West Ham or Palace, would have saved myself decades of depressing football. I used to love it when Crystal Palace came down because they always use to bring loads of fans and it was standing terracing them days, proper atmosphere. The days of Malcolm Allison and Terry Venables, the latter you probably know, but maybe not the former. Palace was the first all ticket game I ever went to, over 13k at Priestfield, wouldn't be allowed these days. Saw 17k against Everton in the cup, that was defo a Hillsborough waiting to happen that day, I even remember saying to myself, close the fooking gates, not kidding btw.
Been taking the lad to watch Walsall, to get our live game fix, rather give them the bit of money than the bigger clubs our way but it is a hard watch. Got to say though the humour from the terraces in the lower leagues is second to non.
I know some years back when you were either in the Championship or Prem (can't remember) but it was cheaper to go to Charlton than it was Gillingham, and that was including the red wing coach transport from thoughout Kent. Your lot even started handing out leaflets at The Gills on match day, that caused a bit of a stir lol.
I grew up slap bang in a triangle between Millwall, Palace and Charlton (Charlton were playing at Selhurt park at the time). Arsenal are my team on account of the Plumstead connection, but I'd often go and watch either Millwall, Charlton, or West Ham when Arsenal were up in Newcastle or Sheffield etc Was mentioning to brb about it, growing up in London, you've got your pick of 3-4 different games each weekend
I remember some years back a mate phoning me to say he was over, and like you he wanted a match fix, it was either Accrington Stanley or Morecambe that weekend, with the most dire football you could ever wish to see.
I’ve a few mates who support the Gills as there’s no love lost due to stuff like the subsidised coach travel! I never used it myself as we either drove or trained to Charlton. I do remember them laying on free coaches to certain away games and they did something with coaches to Middlesbrough for a mid week cup replay.
My grandad was in the navy and was working at Woolwich dockyard when I was 10/11. I used to get put on the train at Gravesend by my parents and met at Charlton by my grandad. I thought I was the dogs bollocks being on the train on my own!
You're still up that way fella ? I only really go back now to see the mother in law back in Plumstead. I should drop in on @remembercolinlee when I'm next up there coz he's a Woolwich lad and has more connections to Arsenal than he does Spurs
Still in North Kent but out towards West Malling, although I am hoping to retire in a couple of years, if I still have anything left in my pension pot! We had spoke about moving when I retired, but I’ve now got a granddaughter, so that could have changed!
