So the only judge of character you allow yourself to trust is a law court? Other than convicted criminals you would hire everyone else who applied for a job? Guilty beyond reasonable doubt is a sensible criterion if someone is to be deprived of their liberty or otherwise to be punished by the state. But for selection for a football team, you can afford to be more picky and indeed have a duty to your other staff to keep them safe.
I do agree CK. I hesitate to mention this really because I know the hate for Arsenal is so in the DNA of Spurs fans but to be honest I have no personal reasons to hate Arsenal in fact I admire what Wenger did there and what he brought to the English game. Chelsea on the other hand have as you say been responsible for raining on our parade several times in the last few years. The basis for their success is based on a Russian Oligarch who stole his money from the Russian people and we can see all to clearly how they (Russian People) are treated right now. I hate City for their ownership and sadly this feeling will develop against Newcastle as well, then there is Notts Forest. It's very sad and is impinging on my love for football as more of these worst kind of humans are allowed to just buy our national game and use it for their own gratification. I loved what Forest did under Clough and what Newcastle did with Keegan and Shearer. Bobby Robson was a lovely human being who enhanced the game. These were football successes. The premier league is doing its best to spoil the game for me on top of that the FA continue to make their incestuous decisions. All of this puts hating Arsenal well down the pecking order. I join in the banter for sure if I come across an Arsenal fan. My next door neighbour of 14 years was Arsenal. Football should be fun not a reason for war, we have too many of those already.
Spurf and CK , I totally agree ,the arse under Wenger were built with knowledge ,they had money but on the whole spent well and wisely, the Chavs on the other hand are those annoying arseholes that move into the neighbourhood partying every night, inviting ****wits over and slam the car doors at 4.00am Without the Russian blood money the would be nowhere
So important not to lose more so than the 3 points because ultimately there’s so many points left to play for that ‘losing’ won’t kills however Winning will inject some serious belief in us, them also no doubt if they smash us. we can’t lose for that reason…the win will transform mindsets I believe In a positive or negative way which one are we prepared to die for today on that pitch? Not looking forward to this…I’ve been nervy about it all week extra Weed delivered yesterday evening COYS
It's not the best of times to play them is it. We have not really got going this season and then we have the break. Spurs will have to wake up quick.
I think one thing we have to both remind ourselves (to keep us all sane) is that, no matter which way the game goes, this won’t be a season-defining result. This is the 8th game of the Premier League season and there will be 30 more games to play after this. Now, don’t get me wrong, whoever gets the more favourable result will clearly have more belief and momentum in their direction - as well as bragging rights - but it doesn’t determine anything other than a bit of goading from the winning team’s supporters, some banter and 3 points. Clearly none of us want to lose this game - however, I am going to try and not lose perspective no matter the outcome. (I won’t be this level-headed during the game)
These are amongst the worst matches for us, we win so infrequently on their patch, we have drawn a few more recently but wins in my lifetime (which is a long time) are probably in single figures. They have looked very good, even in the match that they lost they were the better side for a much of the game. Whereas we have had a couple of good halves of football but generally ground out our results, even last time out the score book says 6-2 but until the last 15 that match was in the balance. So what I do expect today I think they will fly out of the traps and we need to be on our game from minute 1, if they get an early advantage that may well be game over even with our recent record of turning leads over. Our best bet will be to compact and competitive and learn from the way Utd won by staying in the game and using our ability to break quickly. If you offered me a draw now I would walk away happy, but I think that there will be a winner today I just don't think it will be us.
Gonna be over run in midfield...usual Emirates result incoming Did I mention I hate NLD day ? In a car on my way to see my uni kid...hope no reception so can avoid the pain until full time
As Bri said I’d have also preferred a 352. Especially as we don’t have a quality forward to bring on either seeing as Kulu’s definitely out. Son’s really gonna have to bring that Leicester cameo form for this, can’t be having the previous 6 games version today. Richarlison also needs to show that big game attitude too, time to see if he has the mettle for when it really matters. Benny and Hojbjerg gonna be in for one hell of a game, we’re not gonna control possession - that’s obvious - so it’s gonna need good discipline whilst making passes count. This is also Romero’s first NLD, Nuno benched him for this fixture last season and he was injured in the home leg.
