Possession has improved but so has the value of the squad and with it results, but possession doesn't win games if you don't know how to use it. Newcastle are now being given possession by sides at St James Park and Newcastle aren't good enough to use it.... That's the problem. The comparison with this season and last season is a rigged scale to the weight of 250 millions
Of course not - but you are much less likely to score if you dont have the ball and the opposition are more likely to score if they do. Also you cant control games with low possession %. So why have sides suddenly started allowing us more possession? Surely they are not just doing it because they think we are not very good with it?
I agree mate. 1 win in 7 is not great form. It could definitely be better. GG is right there. but it could also be a lot worse. And the comparison with last year isn't a 'defence mechanism', it was a direct response to GG comparing treatment of Howe & Bruce. So I merely demonstrated that just about everything (points, possession, chances created, clean sheets, goals conceded, etc.) has improved under Howe, so it's not special treatment. Yet. The only thing not improved (yet) is the goals per game / goals per chance ratio. Hopefully that will change with key (attacking) players returning. Results could certainly be better, but the performances already are. As you keep saying yourself, it will take time. No need to panic this early. But yes, we should still be able to critique and results are needed. But I'm happy with overall progress, we are laying solid foundations. It will take a few more transfer windows before we can even begin to compete with the big boys, hence the 5-10 year plan.
I meant in general not you specifically my friend People definitely keep jumping to the this time last year comparison.
Callum Wilson is the type of lad who’d finger your missus under the table whilst telling you how much money he has.
