Notice anything in common with your previous post BB? From @DanielJHannan: No, the pound isn’t crashing over a trifling batch of tax cuts. It’s because the markets are terrified of @Keir_Starmer.
A taxi driver has just told me that the reason the pound has dropped is that Ashcroft is still noticed.
The Tory Party conference slogan, is Getting Britain Moving, Can our rivers and beaches cope with any more?
Nobody who gets that rich is one of life's good guys. It's not possible: Bezos, Branson, even Bill Gates (though he does give a lot of money away to be fair), they all have that absolutely ruthless streak that precludes that...
Liz Truss finally came out of hiding this morning, and took part in some local radio station interviews around England. I say "took part" with tongue in cheek...
A successful party conference, a disastrous budget, and the result shows. Westminster voting intention: LAB: 54% (+9) CON: 21% (-7) LDEM: 7% (-2) GRN: 6% (-1) This is wipe out territory.
I've seen mention that this would mean Tories only winning 61 seats in the event of an election. I'd like to say 'bring it on' but as far as Scotland is concerned, Labour are not much better.
There are also figures out there that show the SNP would win every seat in Scotland and could even become the official opposition.
Starts today. It says "UK prices" but up here we get charged significantly more for electricity, even though we generate more than enough of it ourselves, so I guess this may apply to England only. Gas central heating prices look frightening...

Is that the sound of privileged tears I can hear - flowing through the streets of the City of London? https://www.deeside.com/uk-government-expected-to-u-turn-on-45p-tax-rate/
When does a disaster become a distraction? When you have a Prime Minister and a Chancellor who haven' t a clue what the sense of outrage was likely to be.. The Daily Mail had to change its front page between 11.00 pm and midnight, from supporting the tax cut to supporting the non-tax cut. Now the Chancellor thinks that going to a booze up with hedge fund managers straight after telling the Commons that he was in give away mood for the rich, just might have been a bit of a mistake. I wonder what spin SH would have put on all this?
I should have guessed there'd be a price to pay. https://www.thelondoneconomic.com/p...akes-18bn-bite-out-of-public-services-336272/
