Really do no understand Southgate's selection. 3 at the back is pointless in internationals unless you are aiming to snatch a draw - which is no good in a tournament. We have so much talent up the top of the pitch why overload the defense with utter ****e. 4-2-3-1 must be the way to go. Defensively we are screwed though. Maguire should not be on the plane to Qatar, Walker, Sterling, Henderson are wasted picks - none will make the next Euros may as well cut them now and bring through and blood some of the younger players. Stones out is a disaster our best CB and I'd have had him as a starter but unlikely to play between now and the WC. So basically we are left with Dier and Maguire as first choice. Guihe as back up and then who? Coady? Might as well take BDB! Pope dropped a howler but personally I'm not sure why he was starting over Ramsdale. Rambo is a MUCH better keeper than Pope and Pickford is clear #1 so why try Pope out for both games is beyond me. Southgate's decisions are bizarre - drops our player of the year to LWB from his natural position of RW for the first game and then leaves him out of the next game until 20 mins to go where he basically turned the game. Take's Toney but doesn't give him a minute while Kane played every second - because we don't know what Kane is like? It doesn't make sense. Picks a team on club form but then plays Maguire for 180mins despite not being in the Man U squad. Absolutely baffling stuff. Honestly feel we should bin off Southgate now - worst run of form in 40 years - that's worse than Hodgson and McClaren ffs.... Tuchel and Pochettino are both available. 26 Man Squad: 13 Aaron Ramsdale 1 Jordan Pickford 23 Nick Pope 12 Kieran Trippier 2 Trent Alexander-Arnold 22 Reece James 4 John Stones - Maybe Maguire if he's injured 15 Conor Coady 5 Eric Dier 25 Marc Guihe 16 Fikayo Timori 14 Luke Shaw 3 Ben Chillwell 6 Declan Rice 24 Kelvin Phillips 8 Jude Bellingham 18 James Ward-Prowse 26 Mason Mount 7 Bakuyo Saka 17 Emile Smith Rowe 10 Phil Foden 20 Jack Grealish 21 Jordan Sancho 11 Marcus Rashford 9 Harry Kane 19 Tammy Abraham
He wasn't qualified to get the job in the first place. The FA are like Mike Ashley, just want a yes man and aren't bothered about winning.
433 all day long. England managers are always the same. They have favourites, they inexplicably always play a different way to the best teams in the league and always play players out of position. It’s utterly ****ing mystifying. Should be SO simple: GK; Ramsdale, Pickford, Pope/Henderson. RB: James, Trippier CB; Stones, Tomori, Gueyi, Coady LB: Chilwell, Shaw DM: Dier, Henderson, Philips CM; Bellingham, Rice, Ward Prowse, Mount LW: Sterling, Grealish RW; Saka, Foden CF; Kane, Abraham Then just throw a couple of wild cards in there like Jack Harrison and Maddison. Done.
I'd like to think you can take one less CB as Dier can play there, and then take another CF... Wilson or Toney.
It’s simple. Southgate is English. And he is stubborn. He won’t change it because he doesn’t want to be wrong: he’s weak. The players even had a meeting and asked it to be WITHOUT him. And he said it was a good thing. How can that be good. Your own team having a meeting and don’t want you involved.
The guy missed his penalty in 96 and made the worst call ever before pens in he euros... Other countries must be laughing He's burger King material ffs
I find it very practical more than anything else... working days I have 2 a day a 1 real meal a weekends just the 1 and 2 real meals. I feel hungry though there's no escaping that truth ,but that's the same anyway when trying to cut. Getting in shape is a 24 hour mental battle vs your hunger every day .
