Would love to see Rhodes back ere to partner Chops. But we should be looking for a keeper first, what would our goaal differance be without Stockers...
So it would seem JWM http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/15547176.stm My thoughts are with him and his family at this time. What a tragic thing to happen
i watched jordan rhodes a few times when he was on loan at brentford as i only live a couple of miles from griffin park. he seemed to me to have that natural instinct to get in the right place to cause problems. should never have been allowed to leave in my opinion. certainly not at that price without being tested anyway. as for rumours i heard man utd had paul scholes watch him and he was very impressed.
jwm, you probably know by now but billy sharps newborn son died at the weekend. i'm sure all our thoughts are with him and his family
I know nobody has done it intentionally either here or anywhere else but I do hope the transfer rumours which have been going around regarding Billy Sharp havent made his true situation any worse. Can you imagine trying to support your wife and the worry over your poorly son whilst half the newspapers in the country are reporting you have missed your teams match due to your upcoming transfer?
I would not be against his return although i'm not convinced he would be as prolific as he has been in league 1 but for the right price it worth the gamble...
I think Grant Holt has proved that the difference in the leagues is not as great as is often assumed.A natural goalscorer never loses his touch. Why the hell did you sell him?
Exactly a natural goalscorer can most probably score in every league. Its just an instinct thing. Even if he's only half as prolific as he is in the championship compared to league one then he would still have a pretty good goal ratio.
Now Lee Clark is about to become our new manager and he will have around 10M to spend I think there is a decent chance we may go for him
If Man United really are in for him, then I don't think it will make any difference who else comes in for him, he'll go there.
Cant see Man U looking in league 1 for a striker Hernandez, Rooney and Welbeck are all young and have a big future so i dont think they will be looking at Rhodes
i heard lee clark didn't want the leicester job so you won't be getting him at least, but you want royston keane instead! the 1p5wich fans will let you know what they think of him... if you end up with royston, you won't be signing rhodes, but you will be signing daryl murphy, carlos edwards, grant leadbitter and anyone else who has represented either/or both ireland and sunderland
You see the names appear in the results columns and you just know that you are going to hear more of them in future seasons.I remember Lineker appearing amongst the scorers for Leicester on a regular basis in the late 70's as a teenager.More recently Le Fondre was another.I think a lot have a kind of sixth sense as to where the ball will end up and that's where they go.You can't learn or teach it,it's intuitive. Then a player with moderate skill or mobility starts knocking them in at a higher rate than nominally more talented players.I think Crouch has it.
As much as I agree with your original statement, I'm not sure I agree about Crouch!!lol The players who stand out for me who have this instinct are players like Owen, Bent, Henandez. None have a great deal else to their play but getting in the right place at the right time they all do have. And alot of their goals aren't superb finishes its just instinct. I think particularly in the case of Owen and Bent, neither to me are great finishers, like if you notice when they have time to think more often than not they miss, Bent particularly has had some howlers but he's always in the right position to miss. They're always in the right position. Taking Jon Stead as an example, to me he was one of the best finishers I have seen but in terms of getting in the right positions he just didn't have that instinct and too often didn't offer a goal threat. The other thing, particularly I notice about Bent is that he never lets his head drop if he misses a chance, he just gets up and carries on knowing he will get another one at some point!!
