Think you underestimate the high that players like this get by being part of their national teams. It increases their confidence and will also improve them as players. Sure they run the risks of being injured but that's a price you have to pay when you improve squad quality. They can only benefit from playing International football. This attitude that fans don't want players playing for their national teams has crept in over the last few years and I find it small minded and insular. We want our players to be motivated and if part of that motivation is being selected for their national teams then we benefit from it as well.
I think he is aware of the risks but still obviously wants to do it. If you dont want to be injured don’t play sport.
