I'd say grealish is at his peak now, but he's been around forever. When he came on he did his usual run round lalot, got the ball ran into blind alleys and hung on to it by far to long while complaining about the mearest touch. I can understand why the average Joe gets excited when he comes on, he does lots of showboating moves. Unfortunately from a product point of view he reminds me of lallana, loads of turns and shimmies but not where it matters.
Floppers don't have a peak. They get found out. Grealish is also a party animal and has been caught out again having been named in the mendy case as being at the party where one charge comes from. Grealish just fancies himself, I just can't understand what guardiola was doing letting him near his squad
He never looks like he's taking it serious to me - except when the wind blows him over on a regular basis and then he looks really hard done by. If he put the effort in on his feet like he does when he's rolling around, he may find he can have a positive effect on his team.
He's the worst record signing I've seen since denilson Unbelievable that city paid villa 100mil for that on the strength of a bad day for lfc and 2 deflections.
Btw in ye olden days he would be out of England squad and no chance of world cup after that court mention.
https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2022/sep/23/jack-grealish-benjamin-mendy-party-court This is the same pair (walker and mendy) that were treated like heros on a league of their own for being drunk as Lords after their title win Whatever else I know exactly how the pair will end up in the end but right now I can't understand how on earth someone as supposedly perfectionist as guardian puts up with them. I really don't.
I've always thought when an English player goes there it's for the quota because Philips and Grealish don't seem to be the required standard.
Same for stones and really sterling. The fact that guardian can win title after title with those types just shows how much de bruyne is worth to them. Ederson Dias De bruyne Silva (and old silva) Now haaland
Yes those two as well, anyone who plays for England. Give it another season and he might be in for Toney.
Grealish is a good player, his performances for villa show that. Problem is and plenty said it at the time, he’s almost as far from a pep signing as can get. Pep is about getting the ball, move it quickly to create space. Grealish likes to hold onto it and beat a man. Now not a bad thing for sure, and I could see that maybe he would offer something City when their usual play isn’t working and he can get past a couple players in crowded space, or win some free kicks and pens. Issue is he cost £100m and for that you expect a first team player to make big contribution. however, City don’t need him to. For any other team, yes £100m signing has to hit ground running and perform week in week out. At city, they can just spend £100m on a plan b squad option and as that, he’s done alright.
They wanted to sign Kane in the same window. Maybe they thought they'd receive and convert more set pieces with the pair of them there
