Declan Rice; " I've seen it in training, there's goals for fun in this team" Yeah, because they're playing against our defenders
Said that yesterday. Doesn’t count for much when your playing against maguire and shaw! It got totally lost amongst the fact we reached the semi then the final that in big tournaments under Southgate our ability to score from open play is really poor. obviously it’s not a bad thing when you score goals from set pieces, but that should be in addition to open play like our goals have been over last few years. But was times when we were only scoring from them during the tournament and this nations league has shown. Only Now are some people realising it and talking about it because results are also poor
You've overstated the number there. There were nine deaths in total. A terrible tragedy nonetheless. (In Qatar there have been 4.000 deaths so far). The other issues with the Brazil WC were that 170,000 of the poorest people forcefully evicted from their homes to make way for building. While none of that is acceptable, what's happening in Qatar is far worse, coupled with the ongoing lack of basic human rights for women, homosexuals and workers in general none of which was present in Brazil. I'm sure Harry Kane wearing a rainbow armband will sort it all out though.
How many of the starting line up play five at the back at their clubs? James at Chelsea? Dier at Spurs? (Could count Kane too but he just walks about up top) Most clubs play a back in either a 442 or 433, why not play what the defenders know? Or do we play a back five with two CDMs top protect Maguire?
Not having nine deaths, that's some BS cover statistic or something. Not saying it's the same levels of disgrace as Qatar, it isn't, but neither are (were?) acceptable. One is being "boycotted" apparently...
Some people are very spiky when it comes to criticism when they are having parties and dreaming of winning the trophies. They honestly could have given a **** what kind of **** that was served up with enough drink in. The world cup opened up like nothing ever before and England fell at the first decent side they met. And got well beat. Then at home with every advantage they ground their way forward we do have to remember that while decent Denmark are not top tier and we're ran out. Ukraine in quarters and Germany in last 16 who were certainly not at their best. Italy beat Spain, Belgium and Austria so at least has 2 top tier games. Plus of course Spain put France out. Like... there's nothing wrong with that as once Germany were beaten England had a clear run to final We are looking at a piss easy group in the blood cup but after that the games could well be much tougher and France in qf is the expectation. No matter how bad Southgate is he has the players to walk the group.
Well..... look, Brazil is Brazil and someone might actually benefit out of a world.cup and resources built. Build a stadium and maybe someone benefits and gets a job. That's how I view that. Qatar is a whole.other level of disgusting. 6500 dead with 60 degree heat outside these white elephants that will have no use at all once this is over. The sooner the deresrt covers the whole place once the oil.money vanishes the better. The irony is these places are actively driving the cooking of their countries as the heat increases.
I got the details from Amnesty International. I sincerely hope that the number is right because 9 is too many, let's face it one would be too many. I agree with what you're basically saying about looking the other way. I won't say anymore on this one because I don't like comparing tragedies and I feel like I'm sort of doing that and I don't want to.
Original point was more about people claiming to be boycotting it when in reality, they just can't afford to support it. People are arseholes. For every person genuinely willing to boycott something, they're are thousands willing to take their place. This is only different because of cost. Even the wealthy will travel on the day rather than stay close
I haven't enjoyed watching England play for a long time so I don't feel it will be any sacrifice at all to not watch them in the WC. I have to admit to watching them a few times and some other teams in the last couple of World Cups but I will be looking at scores and scorers for this one. Always like to see Liverpool players getting on the score sheet for their national sides.
Not watched them for years really. Seem bits in tournaments but only because I've been in the pub at the time
That's what I wanted to hear. I was really surprised the other day to learn that Grealish is 27. I don't know how old I thought he was but he's not exactly an up and coming rising talent that the media impression tries to paint. Tbf I don't watch him play but I would have seen the headlines about him if there were any. What's the peak age for his position?
