Well we made about £35m profit on Raphinha. Meslier was signed for £4.5m I think so if he was ever sold there’s a £20m+ profit on him.
We're 11th in the PL and also enjoying being back in the big time for our 3rd consecutive season. But yeh anyone could have done it and Orta is absolute dog dirt. Also in case you haven't noticed clubs like Derby, Stoke etc have haemorraged cash trying to be where we are. Radz, Kinnear, Orta, Bielsa have all delivered and now it's Jesse's turn to carry on the great work of the last 4/5 years. Now what the **** are you talking about because to honest I don't think anyone has a scooby doo what your droning on about as all we seem to hear from you is complaint after complaint followed by criticism after criticism.
Daily mail article about our little Willie today, quite a bit of praise for the young 'un hopefully he gets some game time against Mr squeaky cleans engerland tonight and puts old slab head Maguire in a daze.....
For a club the size of Leeds Utd we are under achieving. Failure to sign a striker and left back is bad business. How long has it been since roofe was forced out. No sorry but i do not buy it we should aim higher. Which is why i predicted eighth place this season. One more member predicted the same. While the rest of the doom mongers were happy to avoid relegation or finish mid table ish. I went to the pre season home game and thought with a striker brought in we would do well. That never happened and i think we would have three more points if we had. Doc post about sales and spending and thinks we made a nice profit. Orta failed to get a striker no one else. Leeds are not a mid table side we should be challenging for Europe and not signing Firpos.
When you say size of our club I'd say there are plenty ahead of us; Man City Liverpool Chelsea Arsenal Spurs Scum Newcastle (50,000 stadium plus rich Saudi owners) West Ham (60,000 stadium) Everton (new 60,000 stadium on the way and PL ever present) That's why most of us are grateful to be at least sitting at the top table again and after a generation in the wilderness realise it will probably take another 5 years of PL cash and ER to be redeveloped before we can aim higher. But hey if it happens and we finish 7th and get in the European Conference League then we'll take it.
I’m content with establishing ourselves in the PL whilst remaining debt free. It’s better than mortgaging the club attempting to run before we can walk, ending up broke and in League One. Been there done that - never again.
We currently are not a huge club. We are a big club with huge potential. If teams get an average of £125 million a year for being in the PL then a club the size of Everton have been given £2 billion more than us in our 16 year absence. £2 billion! We shouldn't be able to compete at all with these clubs yet here we are building a club and team pretty much from scratch and doing exceptionally well.
Leeds striker Wilfried Gnonto won man of the match, with a rating of 6.95, despite only coming on in the 63rd minute. He looked good but didn't really do that much to win MOM. Did have a shot early on that Kane got in the way of. Must have been a fair number of Leeds fans voting on BBC.
That's because the BBC don't do the rating system, they allow fans who have not even seen the game to give players ratings out of ten. I freely admit that I gave Gnonto a score of 10 just for ****s and giggles. I didn't bother giving a rating to any other player, although maybe I should have given Maguire a 0. Edit : Aha I see you have added the extra line about Leeds fans voting, must have been seconds after I quoted your original post, else there would have been no need for my reply
Now if they still allowed tobacco companies to advertise, then it would be the "John Player Special" of the match
When Bielsa was in charge and we were playing our own unique brand of amazing football that potential was taking on a life of it's own. We received plaudits from the most unlikely sources and the whole football world suddenly took notice of Leeds United but sadly we didn't have another £100M+ to back him after we finished 9th in our first season back. That's why it's easy to understand some supporters frustrations but it shouldn't detract from the fantastic work that Radz, Orta and Marcelo did to waken the LS11 sleeping giant.
