After Sunday's performance, I hope Warnock starts with Mackie; the absence of pace in attack during the first half was particularly noticeable, we have to be able to stretch teams; Helguson has done well since his return, but, as is obvious to us all, the ball over the top for him to chase is a non-starter, meaning the opposing defensive can play tight on him and, as such, his flick-ons are wasted or all played in front of the opposition defence.

For this reason, I would like to see Mackie playing off/just in behind Helguson. Mackie obviously isn't as creative as Taarabt, but I think we need a different approach.

I would also like to see SWP play on the right flank. IMO it's his best position and as Helguson is strong in the air, surely this is one of our best attacking options. An alternative to the one suggested above, then, might be to play Mackie off the left with SWP from the right. However, and people may disagree with this one, especially against MC midfield, might be to drop Derry and go with Smith off the left with Mackie central and SWP right.

As I said in my dissertation the other day I want to see Mackie and SWP start out wide and stretch the defence. This will give more room for Taarabt or Bothroyd, or even Barton in the middle of the three. I can’t see Smith starting.

I also want to see them as the first line of defence, and hassle the City back 4 so they can’t just roll the ball backwards and forwards.

I like the look of RangerCol's line-up. Bothroyd is good at linking the play, and perhaps not playing him as the lead striker may take a bit of pressure off too. Agree with the Smith statement too on consideration; most important is definitely SWP on the right, with Mackie's energy and pace: with have to take the game to them for sure.

Good call Col. IMO it has to be this or swap Bootsy for Adel. Think Adel might be suited as well to playing in the hole behind a front man. SWP and Mackie could run the wings and offer protection to our full backs. Adel might find more room in the middle. Either Bootsy or Adel in this line up looks good.

Agree with you Col. Unless Adel is looking as sharp as a knife in training, then I'd have him in for Bothroyd, otherwise he's supersub. Now I've found the f***in * on this blæædin norwegian keyboard, I'm happy!

I think we need to play our new defender, Al Qaeda, sitting on the crossbar with an AK47 operating a shoot on sight policy...

Col, to me this season it looked like Adel was playing our wide in several of our matches. Of course i could be wrong (usually am). Difficult to try analyze positions and player movement on the TV. Got the green light from the kitchen commander to fly to England for a game in the coming weeks, so looking forward to that.

I agree , have to go for the same.

Got a feeling he may want to go with more a 4-5-1 for this one though to pack the midfield , could see derry in for Both, personally agree with everyone else though, time adel was on the bench.

agree rangercol that team should be put out, what we need is pace to push them back a bit & mackie will do his bit of harrasing & chasing & got to some how close them down as yet no one has & they've scored at will, i would love it just love it if we could get something out of that match.

HH has been pairing himself with the opposition right back for goal kicks recently. Will he switch to the other side because he'll have more luck in the air against Clichy than Richards.

Agree with the comment above about switching SWP to the right and this would put him in a position to collect flick ons.
