The Sutherland Brothers and Quiver played this at a Sunderland Tech Do, back in the day they were a very good live band and wrote this song, long before Rod the Mod covered it. On the theme of this section of the thread , and thinking about tomorrow this is sombre but I love it, and fits in well with the mood its , Its called The Ark, and this guy is an all time favourite of mine hope you likea
I've heard the original. Wasn't long until after, Rod rehashed it. Must admit his was a better version.
Universal Soldier still brings a tear. and Mary Hopkins sang this as we all left college. In the last few months both my best man’s wife died with a brain tumour and my other best mates wife died from Covid, broke me mate.
Sorry to hear that mate, pure coincidence but I had just quoted a Donovan reference on the Wordle thread with unintended relevance before reading your sad post this morning. , .
It’s strange mate sometimes we don’t see each other for years and then we meet up and carry on as though it was just yesterday, and there will be loads on here with mates like that.
Only heard their version in that one live performance, didnt notice it tbh, at least it did not stick, but they had a decent stage show, not on the Faces level but Woods and Co take some beating, a recent documentary about Ronnie Woods is worth a look if you are interested in that earlier era.
I don't know what the crack is, I've tried to post a couple of vids from YouTube but they aren't working
Loosely connected I admit, but its another lost weekend, and I wonder does anyone else watch the Ronnie Woods Show on TV featured Paul McCartney this week and I know he has at least one fan on here.
Only 'cos he's the best singer/songwriter that there's ever been or will be, though Incidently, Paul produced, as well as many others for loads of singers, 'Those were the Days' as mentioned by Rooch above
