I take your point, but I would like the bigger picture to be respected and recognition given to the FA Cup and the lower league teams working their nuts off to gain a replay, potentially at the home of a Premier League club.
The income from those games alone could be the difference between some clubs scraping by or fighting off bankruptcy.
As the rule is mainly aimed at protecting the “top” Premier League clubs, maybe those clubs should set up a compensation package for all the teams that miss out on replays, especially replays against a top flight team.
They won’t because it would be too costly but if avoiding replays is that important to them maybe they should send out their strongest teams to win the first tie instead of putting out half their academy squads.

Watching England tonight it seems like Gareth Southgate is channelling his inner Hassenhuttl: players playing out of position, lack of a cutting edge and playing the ball around in their own half before giving it away.

 

Difference is Southgate has a ton of quality players at his disposal. I wish he'd ditch this formation TBH.
