Most of our neighbours have been here at least 15 years, some 20+.
We all tend to rub along (except for 1 tw@t, though his wife is pleasant enough) but not in and out of each others houses.
Have the occasional function together, queen's jubilee, but usually do our own thing.
Saying that, if anyone needs a hand or has problems, people muck in.
Its easy enough to knock on a door or two if you need a favour.

Like you sparkey, if I meet socially, its usually ex-workmates, long term friends or brothers of the angle.
I consider myself quite sociable, have lots of acquaintances but only a small number of real mates.

Just thinking of our neighbours "given" names. Four of them are always referred to by their cars. There's Jagman, Beetlewoman, Miniman and Ravwoman.

Would these be brothers that would meet on the square by chance?

I wondered that but I think it's something to do with angling or fishing to you and me.

We live in a new development of 17 houses and all moved in the same time. Very friendly bunch and all helpful. I set up an email group and we have the usual WhatsApp group. All kids similar age so lots of mucking in to help with school travel etc.
Help available if needed and occasional street party....once per year as school year starts. Interesting this winter...we had heavy snow and kids used box to make bricks and build a wall. One neighbour designated it a bar and we spent the Saturday drinking and grilling. Very spontaneous and good fun.
This is unusual here. If you move into an older established community you are met with a list of rules about all sorts....including when you can cut grass etc.!!! However helps to have a Jewish wife....we don't work Saturday and can cut grass on Sunday!!!! No-one objects!!!! We also only eat kosher pork

They were very wide Clingo. A lovely course. I didn't lose a ball. My golf is not so good but it was a great morning with former work colleagues followed by beer and chips overlooking the 18th green. Talk of going to Llanishen Golf Club in October.

Some good news as well. Looks like the French Air Traffic Control strike is over so we are Portugal bound a week tomorrow.

We used to live in a 17 house cul de sac where most people got on well. The main event was a Christmas outing to local restaurants in Bridgend but there were other get togethers during the year, birthdays, bbq's etc.

Me, Mrs BfB and the cat downsized 5 years ago. Now live on a larger development although work has just started on 400 new houses on the hillside above us. Roads will be a nightmare and no provision for new doctors, dentists, schools, shops etc. Just more council tax income for a greedy, poorly run council.

Neighbours all very nice but a mix of young families and old codgers (like us) so socialising not so prevalent.

After nearly 30 years in the previous house the move was stressful and my next move will be horizontally in a wooden box.

While we know all our immediate neighbours by name, a few more distant one's less so.
However, several have dogs. We know the neighbours as Max's / Cooper's / Bonnie's mam or dad.

Speaking of dogs, out at the small holding and its peeing down.
While its much needed, not the weather Im going out in out of choice, so today's chores will be kept to the bare minimum.
Sat in the tack room naval gazing while mrs Remote cleans out the chickens.
The dogs not too worried by it, but keep coming to see me. Wouldn't mind but Im now soaking as they keep shaking and jumping up on me.
Not had all 3 trying to leap on me together.
Hell dog keeps jumping on my lap though.

Glad you enjoyed it. It is a brilliant course. They had the Picadilly there a few times so it's up to a serious pro standard.

We've moved into a nice cul-de-sac about 4 years ago, after 30 years in Rugby, and we are pleasantly surprised how quickly they have accepted us.
We have impromptu bbq's and get togethers, and there's a couple of old boys who like a drink in the afternoon no matter what the weather, just open the garage doors and get some chairs in, and it's like.......Rob are you coming for a quick one??
Some of the others further down don't get involved in anything, so I think they must be using the sparks playbook (no offence)
