Hate to say it but could this work in their favour? They may make a sub standard offer to buy the stadium from the administrator and if no one makes a better offer they get the ground on the cheap. I have no idea if they could afford to make any offer by the way
To be honest no idea. I just remember that from school and it has stuck in my brain. And school was a long long time ago
They moved a rugby league club from London to Coventry and got in 35 million debt doing it by that article. I'm not in to rugby no one I know is, apart from people I knew in the forces but I have my own opinion on that. For that reason the big TV and sponsorship money isn't there to cope with that kind of debt. Also agree with the above post I think Coventry will be salivating at the prospect of Wasps folding, they will either buy or rent the stadium cheap and be the only ones using it and likely the only bidder.
I would hoy in a tenner, but I'm a bit dubious that it might be enough to actually buy them. I definately don't want to own Coventry.
Union. They are/were one of the bigger clubs but with Saracens, Harlequins, and London Irish (as well as London Welsh some of the time) all competing for broadly the same geographical fanbase a move to the West Midlands, where the nearest big club is Worcester, has some logic to it. They left behind all their London fans though and, although some travelled, I'd imagine the novelty of that wore off after a while. It takes time to build a new fanbase. Seems like a gamble gone wrong.
The thing is, buying Wasps or the stadium, doesn't buy Coventry City ... just a bunch of disagreeable tenants who could move and leave you with a big empty stadium.
Queer one this is mind. Two sporting clubs , both of whom have virtually no chance of ever coming close to regularly filling a ground. One rents it from the other, which is on the brink of admin. The renting club is potless and clueless. This may play in Coventry's favourite, but any administrator has to help run the business before a sale and he will not be required to think of them. Unless they can sell the ground to Coventry , who can't afford it. Mental. Few would weep if both quietly just slipped away and left room for properly ran outfits.
Well this is a right pickle the Wasps have gotten themselves into and I whole heartedly would like to see Coventry somehow dragged into this mess and become homeless once again, and in mid season that would mean only one outcome IF and it's a big IF the EFL chuck the whole weight of the regulations at them but I'm not holding my breath. Now if this was our club in the sh1te the same EFL would be falling over themselves to get the rule book out. Bastards. PS Thank God for KLD.
